I hadn't heard about this until I saw the trailer at Coraline today. Wow. Bren's especially going to like it.

You know...you start a thread like that and I think he's dead. Don't do that.

Yeah, that trailer did look really cool!

And Coraline was really good too, btw.

Is it good? That is good news. It is based on a novel from Neil Gaiman. I love that author, glad to see they did not screw it up.

American Gods and Good Omens are awesome novels.

We actually had a discussion about this a few weeks ago. But yeah, there are a lot of Neil Gaimen fans around here, I guess.

I have to say American Gods wasn't my favorite, I just felt like it was too long. There is apparently a "sequel" to it that's a Novella. I haven't read it, but its supposed to be pretty good.

I think my favorite so far is still Anansi Boys. I really liked Neverwhere a lot too.

I finished reading his new one: The Graveyard Book a few weeks ago and I enjoyed that as well... all in all an awesome author.

The Coraline movie is actually very good. Significantly dark enough to be for kids that can handle that sort of thing, while being really cool for us "not kids" who like that sort of thing...

First read his Sandman graphic novels, at least some of them. Coraline is good for a quick read (as is his latest "children's" novella, The Graveyard Book), and I really liked Neverwhere. He also has some collections of short stories out.

I second Neverwhere. Neverwhere was just fantastic. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES read the Neverwhere graphic novel. It was horrible and short-changed the book.

I also strongly recommend Stardust.

If you like short stories, I strongly recommend Smoke & Mirrors. His short stories are awesome.

Also, because I am pedantic and this keeps bothering the hell out of me (and also because I hate Tim Burton and love Neil Gaiman)...Tim Burton in no way had absolutely anything to do with Coraline. His grubby little paws did not touch this movie.

The director of Nightmare Before Christmas, Henry Selick, directed Coraline. Tim Burton wrote, but did not direct, Nightmare Before Christmas.

Get your paws off Coraline, Tim Burton!

If you like comics/graphic novels, then read Sandman stuff. As a novel, I would read Neverwhere first.

American Gods is ok, but to me it sort of drags on waaaaaaaaaay to long. Anansi Boys is better (actually I think its my favorite). So, I'd read Anansi Boys next.

If you like a real fantasy type book, you will love Stardust, and even if you don't normally like fantasy, you will likely love stardust.

Gaimen is certainly becoming my favorite writer, I just think everything he puts on paper is golden, so you will like it all, Feo.

I luvs the Sandman series! I've only got the first graphic novel, they're a big expensive and we're saving up for baby stuff. It's one of those comics that grabs you by the eyeballs and refuses to let go!
