Can someone please help me try to get through Vampire Lestat?
Has anyone else read this? I loved Interview with a Vampire but.. Vampire Lestat is so boring so far.. But I HAVE TO FINISH IT!
Did anyone else have this problem? If so.. how did you finish it?! Lol!
Or maybe, have any of you read Queen of the Damned? If I don't finish Vampire Lestat, will I be missing anything?

I have read most of Anne's vampire books and Lestat was actually my fav... I think I've read it twice though it's been SO long since last I've read it. If you want to livin' it up, try reading her book Violin before reading anything else she's ever writen. Everything thereafter will seem like an action packed, porno filled, best motherfuckin' book you've ever read. I still can't believe I made it through that book.
Bottom line is if you find Lestat boring, you should probably stop because, in my opinion, they don't get much better. (this coming from a guy who sincerely enjoyed most of the books)
THAT'S RIGHT, I LIKE ANNE RICE! FUCK ALL YOU BITCHES!
You really do need to read them all or else you'll miss a bit though she does tend to recap in new books (which gets annoying) but then there are some books that have absolutely nothing to do with any of the others.
Queen of the Damned takes up after Interview but characters are introduced in Lestat that are in Queen. I say stick it out if you really enjoyed Interview. It must get better -- I bore easily and I really liked it... though I'm not the best book critic... at all.

Yeah.. I started to read it today and I guess there was just a momentary lapse in it catching my attention.. It may of just been me not wanting to read, but I picked it up again like I said and I couldn't put it down.. Haven't finished it, I started to get cold.. (I read in the bath......) But yeah, I'm hoping to keep going.. It was pretty entertaining.. I'm hoping it stays this way.
Have you read any of her "erotic" Sleeping Beauty books? I'd really like to look into them, I heard they are excellent.

The first time I read Lestat, I did it in two very long sittings. I just couldn't put it down. I haven't read anything else of hers outside of the Vampire Chronicles and Violin *gag*.
Violin really turned me off to any of her other writings but I may have to check out the Sleeping Beauty books -- especially if it's more erotic than the vampire books. That woman can be insanely descriptive. In Violin, there was about 12 pages just describing a bloody tampon on a floor. If only she'd put that energy into describing something like anal sex...

Don't worry Don, I too am a bitch. I mostly read all the Mayfair witch books. I think I read them all in a quest to gain a better understanding of my at-the-time teenage girlfriends obsession with them. (And no, this was not last year). I actually think it helped me understand her brain a lot better, and they were fairly enjoyable reads. I read Interview but never any of the other Vampire series.
Feora, based on what I've seen of your taste in books, you should read Gregory Maguire's books if you haven't already. Start with Wicked. I've read that and Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister. I enjoyed both, but liked Wicked better. I'm now reading Son of a Witch, the second book in the Wicked series. I think I want to read Mirror, Mirror next.
Edited to add: You don't have to finish every book you start. American Psycho was the book that taught me that. Not because the violent content of the book disturbed me, but because I hated all the characters in the book and wanted Patrick Bateman to kill them all.

How big is your freezer door? In order to enjoy an Anne Rice book, you need to bash your head in with a nice, heavy freezer door first.
Some of her books are entertaining. Some of them are terrible. I don't get that. Does she have her pet maya bird write some of them? Like Belinda?
None of them are remotely deep or informative.
But I did go through a "I don't want to feel or learn anything from my books" phase when I was sitting around my apartment pregnant in the late 90s and I enjoyed Lestat and Queen of the Damned the most...as RIDICULOUS as that book is (Queen). Heh.
Anne Rice totally used Lestat as some sort of masturbatory object in her books...eventually having him um...fly...and then become a cherished rock star. So looking at Tom Cruise in his blond wig try to be this End All, Be All of hot, perfect vampires, well it ain't working for me.

Anne wanted Leonardo DiCaprio as Lestat though I don't really see that either.

What about that Shania LeDouche guy?
Too Doofy.
It would have to be someone who's blond, believable as a beautiful man/seducer, but also believable on stage in tight Jim Morrison pants. Me not being a big fan of blond dudes, I have no vote on this.
Maybe Dalwin.

Clive Owen and Tom Cruise were both born in '62.
But your right, Clive Owen is too manly. And frankly too cool.

If I were gay I'd SO do Clive. Or at least fantasize about it.

Hugh Jackman with a dye job?
Hey Killian, which of the ladies in the background of your avatar is supposed to be Lux?

psh, ha! ...uhm, I mean the brunette...
That guy who plays Chuck Bass on Gossip Girl looks perfect for the job. Just dye his hair.
(and then strip him down and bring him to me.)
