Very much so.
My church along with surrounding parishes have been very strong in aiding the relief efforts for Africa. The UN is so tangled in red tape and corruption that it takes forever to get any action from them and when they finally act the warlords are generally aware of it way before hand. It is through the efforts of private agencies such as the one you've linked that will make the difference.
I generally keep it light in these forums but good for you for spreading the word.
