I think now that there are just different levels of gamers:

1. Casual social gamers - these are the yuppies and the hipsters who get together in a friend's living room once a month or so to play some Wii or Rock Band or some such.

2. Bored at work gamers - These people play solitair, bejewelled, Mah Jong etc, but only when they are bored at work and can't be too obvious about what they are doing (AKA my Mother) and anything more complicated is lost on them.

3. Console Gamers - These are the people who have 4+ gaming consols and can (and probably have) beaten any level on any game that has come out since Pong.

4. Casual Gamers - Willing to try any game, but usually have their favourite game that they play a lot, they tend to be pretty good but don't always know every secret code or worry about whether their toon is geared to the max or the top rated in their function (AKA Me, I mean it would be nice if it didn't feel so much like work).

5.Hardcore Gamers - These are the ones everyone goes to for advice on how to beat that big boss or how to roll a great toon, these guys know the secrets but don't worry about whether everyone else in the world does (AKA Fox, Fren, Kae, Ras, and many others in VS).

6. Asshat Hardcore Gamers - These people eat sleep and breath their game of choice, many play multiple games and can often be found at Cons around the world, their idea of a holiday is 5000 quarters and an arcade, they use l33t sp33k fluently, know EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING and will not hesitate to point out how much of a loser YOU are because you have not saved the princess without help or defeated such and such a boss or decked your character out in the top rated gear yet.

Now many of our higher level gamers will partake in some of the lower level activities, but rarely will lower level gamers partake in higher level activities.
