Not sure if there's much interest in it around here but I thought I'd post about my beta experience from this weekend. And since they just brought the closed-beta servers down and I'm quite sad, I thought I'd write a bit to help with the mental anguish.

I only got to play yesterday and a bit today but I really had a great time. My main character for my 15 hours or so of indulgence was a hot Asmodian Cleric named Kildred. Her DPS was meh but I never had to worry about dying (okay, I died once) and I thoroughly enjoyed running around saving other people's asses. I made it up to lvl 14 and got my wings at lvl 10. Unfolding your wings and flying into the sky is way cool but there's a lot of places where you can't fly which was a bit disappointing.

The game up to this point is rock solid. There were some lag issues but I'm hoping a lot of that was due to stress testing. The quests/environments were polished and I never came across a single bug. Though I hear the current state of the game post lvl 20 becomes a bit of a grindfest with lots of forced PvP. However, they're suppose to be adding a ton of new quests for the later levels come open-beta/release -- we'll see.

Combat utilizes a combo/chain system which is pretty nifty. I tried all of the classes (at least to lvl 5) and fighting was fun across the board though mages are dps supreme. I never got to experience the PvP element but I hear it is well done.

Anyway, bottom-line is it's fun and it's fucking gorgeous to look at.

I know myself, Doob (from Dominicide), Andist and probably Shadian *waves at Shadian* will probably give it a whirl come release. If anyone else is interested in giving it a spin we'll post details here with regards to characters and server when the time comes.

Hey guy! I know its been a long time since I've posted so please don't faint! I will be jumping on the Aion bandwagon! I've participated in all the CB's and had a total blast ... getting my sorc up to lvl 22.

I'll be rolling Asmodean on most likely Isphreal when we can do pre-selection on the 18!

I totally agree with Kill's assessment ... the first two beta there was a bit of lag and rubberbanding in the beginning areas. The further along you got and the population spread out I didn't see any issues at all.

Flying/gliding it totally cool, though I've not quite mastered the technique of flying/fighting yet.

The game is visually pleasing on either side of the world you are on. I especially like how the classes begin out totally balanced and what makes them unique is the manastones/stigmas a person uses.

Anyways hope to see some of you out there!

As of now we're leaning towards the Israphel server as well but during OB it's been incredibly crowded/hammered. Right now, we're mostly on Yuriel as Elyos (as not to burn out on Asmodian quests) -- haven't decided for sure on where we'll go come pre-select but we'll definitely be Asmodian.

Jack and I are in the open beta as well. We are kind of all over on the servers depending on which one is not lagging to badly. If anyone else wants to post servers and character names we will try and look you up online.

I did not know this before but the game was released last year in Korea has grown to their top NCsoft game over there.

Given that I don't find it too surprising that the game looks polished.

I will have to find out more about the later game info cuz forced pvp grind fest is definitely not for us.

Jack and I have pre-order a copy of the collectors edition.

We will be choosing Asmodian to start on a East Coast Server, most likely Ariel if we can swing it.

Guess it's too late for me then, I have already played lots of NCSoft Games, City of Heroes, Auto Assault, Tablua Rasa.

Plus when you're called DemonDoodle it's kind of a given your going to end up up in H-E-Double Hockey Sticks.

City of Heroes isn't too bad. Tabula Rasa was certainly different, but it's closed down and dead isn't it?

I guess I'm waiting for some more feed-back on this game. I can't afford to buy another subscription game just to try it. I would love a free trial but that's not gonna happen right at launch.

Yup Tabula crashed and burned and so did Auto Assault and pretty much every other SciFi MMO (yes SWG is still going but it's pretty much dead), Eve is still going don't know about any others. Let's hope Old Republic is able to break the scifi mmo curse, I would love a good MMO that is not sword and board.

For Aion

Fileplanet had a beta for subscribers only this week, but on Monday they opened it up to everyone. It closes on Sunday and it's a 9 gig d/l but you might be able to play for a little bit, go to fileplanet make a free account and off you go.

As far as feedback for Jack and I here is what we have so far

-Character customization is very nice you can really make different looking characters. They have put a good amount of work into this and into the animations, emotes etc..which is important to some and also shows the care they put into their product.

-Graphics are pretty and don't kill your system doing it.

-Sounds are ok, little on the japanimation side if you know what I mean but considering it's a game from Korea it's to be expected.

-Music is good

-Flying is nice and Flying combat should be intersting but we have not really touched the main part of the game yet which kicks in more after L20.

-They don't appear to be really big on instances or raids as far as I can tell. So if you really like that aspect you might find it lacking somewhat.

Is it a Wow killer? Hell No. But it's different and fun to play. If your happy in Wow stay in Wow if you can only choose 1. But if you have been playing Wow for 5 years and are looking for something different to do then I would recomend you give it a try.

Update, looks like we will be rolling Asmodian on Triniel and Elyos on Lumiel. If anyone is rolling East coast server they are welcome to join. If you have not already check out aionsource.com for lots of forum info on the different servers.

There is fishing but not in the normal sense of the word. You don't actually use a fishing pole. You kind of suck the life energy out of the fish and it ends up in your bag.

I've been playing AION for the last 1 1/5 months.

Graphically appealing. Yes, there is fishing, just no fishing poles.

I love the ability to fly but you can only fly in specific areas so that sucks.

Anyway, it appears most of those who started playing AION from work have all gone back to other games...including WOW. I figure I've got to give it a little more time. I'm not bored yet.

Jack and I don't mind it. But we don't hardcore game like we used to so we are all over the place. Jack is playing Wow mostly now with yet another new toon, I came back to help her, but I spend most of my little gaming time playing Eve. Got a free 21 day trial and bought it off Steam when it was $5.

Looking at Startrek Online, interesting in principle but very worried about the execution. Then of course there is always Knights of the Old Rebuplic MMO and the next expansion for WOW, upcoming year is gonna be crazy for MMO's.
