I'm pretty sure he would be against that.

I had the pleasure of doing some pro bono legal work for the International Campaign for Tibet early in my career. I didn't get to meet the Dalai Lama, but i did meet Lodi Gyari, his special envoy in Washington, who was a really nice guy. I also got to see the Dalai Lama speak, which was a wonderful experience. It's nice to know that he may actually have read something that I wrote, and that in any event I did a small part for the Tibetan cause.
Then I went back to helping evil money-grubbing corporations make more money.

Having spent a some time with several Lamas, they are really kind of cool. They have great senses of humor and they really do enjoy learning, and partaking in American culture. That said, the fist bump was really cool, and I think His Holiness probably thought it was pretty fun.
On the other hand, the "hello Dolly" reference was sort of dumb. I mean, I'm sure its something the poor man has heard a million times before, and something that he will hear a million times again... its like going up to a guy name Jack and saying, "Have you jumped over any candle sticks lately?"
Ok, that is all.
One of these days I'll get all of the pictures posted from the time I spent with the Monks when they were on tour, singing. I will definitely have to dig those up...
