As some of you may have noticed, we have removed Mishkarah and Maublitz from Victorious Secret. Since this has not been an easy decision to make we feel that the guild deserves an explanation of why we made it.
We have been aware that these VSers did not seem to mesh well with the rest of the group. Officers and Raid Leaders have been exchanging complaints for a very long time. However, because no other guild members had raised concerns, we didn't feel we had the right to do anything about it. So we just continued to monitor the situation. Because they were fairly casual players, they didn't stir up trouble very often and there is a good possibility that many of you didn't even spend enough time to formulate a negative or positive impression of them.
We understand that removing anyone sets a bad precedent for VS, which is why the decision has been so difficult. We don't want anyone in the guild to feel that because they don't play enough, or raid enough, or talk enough on guild chat, they are in danger of being removed. We want to assure you that that isn't the case. This has been the only personnel problem VS has had in a very long time and the only reason it has become this big a deal is because we didn't fix it right away when we first noticed the problem.
As some of you may remember, we made some changes to our applicant approval process. The main reason we did this is so that we can try to avoid the situation we found ourselves in here. When these guildmembers joined, the only requirement was that they know someone in the guild. From that point, the only requirement to become a full member was to get through 2 weeks without causing any trouble. They didn't have to group with anyone, or talk to anyone, or get to know anyone. By the time the officers realized that they were probably not the best fit for VS, it was too late to do anything about it politely.
This is why the applicant process works as it does now. Sapph, Lux, and Fox read the applications and decide who gets a shot at joining the fray. Lately, we have turned away very few applications so we have several new members. These initiates will remain as such until enough of you guys get a chance to spend some time with them and speak up on their behalf. That's what our rep grind is all about. If you feel strongly that one of our new members is right for VS, we NEED to know. And if you notice they aren't - speak up so we can do something about it before it's too late.
We understand that several of our current players know or have met Mish and Maub in person. For this reason, we won't go into details of our decision. We will only say that, at this point we honestly feel that we are acting in the best interests of not only the officers, but all of VS. If you have any concerns or feel that you need further explanation, please bring it up privately with any of our officers.
Also, because this situation is a new one for us, we don't know how they are going to react. If they decide to openly criticize our decision, please don't join in or defend. Let the officers know and we will figure out the best way to deal with it.
