On the one hand, I could not possibly disagree more with everything Ann Coulter says.
On the other hand, she has a right to say it, and every time students and faculty get involved in trying to prevent her from saying it it only garners her more publicity, which seems to be all she is about. Really, the only way to shut people like her up is to not have anyone attend the speeches she gives. If no one is listening, no one will give her a venue at which to spout her stupidities and she will slowly and happily disappear.
Frankly, I would much rather Canadian border patrol had just turned her away when she tried to enter the country. "No, you can't come in. You're just here to cause trouble. Go away." Only she'd have used that for publicity too....

What they should have done is gotten everyone they could to attend so the people that wanted to hear it couldn't....
All waited for her to start speaking...
And then left.

That would have been AWESOME, Fox... I would have loved to hear how she would spin that one. I think she's be speechless...
That or she'd just give her lecture to the empty room, because she likes to hear herself speak.

Yeah I think in the article it said that something like 100 people were inside. If there had been no protest, then Ann Coulter would have given an address to 100 people. Thats a pretty weak crowd for someone like her and probably kind of embarrassing, but since the protest she got good PR (or at least her version of good PR) out of it.
The dripping irony here is that it is well and good for "tea partiers' or what ever they wish to be called to disrupt every townhall meeting but when karma bites that vomitous harpy on her bony ass she is livid.

I consider myself to be conservative but I admit we have more than our fair share of radical fruit loops.
Fox, your idea borders on genius. That would have been great!

While I try to be very careful to avoid any politically sensitive topics around here, I find no issues with calling out a raging asshole, left or right.
I would like to use the terms "raging asshole" in some kind of ditty.
Maybe including something about swilling rotgut and eating scotch bonnets which would lead to the ditty...Oh and Frenial...yep..got to include Frenial.
I said ditty twice...ditty...now that is four times I've said it. Irish background music also...the stuff where everyone yells "blar blarrr blar blar blarrr blar"
And the the Notre Dame mascot explodes into a green and red mushy pile.

I think the public opinion would be different if Louis Farrakhan were protested out of a speaking engagement.
Imagine the press if President Obama went to a college to speak and was booed off the stage. You might think "There is a hell of a lot of difference between a President and a syndicated columnist". Of course that is correct. But there wasn't a whole lot of press around the time that George Bush Sr. came to Atlanta to speak at Clark College and was booed off the stage. Protesting conservatives is always generally more popular than protesting liberals. As an example, the two conservatives that posted here wanted to make sure they didn't upset anyone - but I think they were the only two posts that worried about it.
People can protest all they want, but creating a situation that is unsafe is just a mob of idiots. The student body should be ashamed of themselves.
I, for one, think Ann Coulter gets a lot more right than she does wrong and standing against the left isn't a very popular thing to do in the US.
There, now we have the left and the right presented!
Ok, I will go back to lurk in the shadows again...

Fair enough. Let's leave it at this now. I was eyeing the lock thread button since this first came up and since both sides are represented let's just let it lie.

I'm getting sick of this kind of stuff getting posted. I mean, how many times are we going to go over this until everyone understands the one true way of life?
