It's quite apparent that many of us have been taking a break from WoW, in anticipation of the upcoming expansion (or for other reasons). So, this thread is to see what everyone's been up to lately. How have you been spending your time outside of WoW?

Most recent activity keeping me away from WoW:

Fox and I went to TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival)... something we have done every year for the last few years. We saw some awesome movies: Bunraku (good movie, some neat stuff in it); Monsters (great movie, better than I had expected); Conviction (really great movie, go see it before you find out the ending if you can); Black Swan (sooooo good... very intense); The Debt (also good, suspenseful).

We also snuck in a few non-TIFF movies. We watched Resident Evil 3D which inspired my Halloween costume: I'm going as Alice!

Bouncing around between a few games, checking out some old favorites to see what they are up do, like DAOC. Nothing has really changed with it.

Dragon*Con was a ball, there are some photos on that thread. And that's about what consumed our time this summer...

I've been reading a lot (mostly fiction, but not all sci-fi/fantasy), getting out with the GF whenever possible to enjoy the good food and beer DC has to offer, and playing a heck of a lot of Munchkin Quest with my 9-year-old daughter, which is tempting me to try this with her...

I cannot wait to see how that costume turns out, Sapph. My girlfriend had a pretty sweet idea for the two of us that will definitely get posted on the forums if it happens.

In the last three months I: Left the Army, got a sweet job at a big company, moved to california, starting taking evening classes and had my girlfriend move in with me. So things have been a bit busy. I'm still figuring out how to balance my schedule and starting to get into a groove. WoW is still very much on my mind and you'll see me around plenty soon. Just gotta get the girl playing again...

Hom, I don't get it. You took up photography?

Is this also why your fantasy football team sucks so bad?

I went swimming off the Great Barrier Reef and was attacked by a box jellyfish. I have been in a coma ever since.

My wife became a Carmelite Nun and my daughter ran off with a Micheal Bolton impersonator.

My dog had an identity crisis and now thinks it is a teacup poodle. All of my idiot cats shed and puke everywhere.

A sinkhole opened under my house collapsing half of it; the other half burned up in a fire when a plane flown by Jack Roush crashed into it.

Besides that, everything else has been far out, man.

brendar: Left the Army? I figured you for a lifer. I know nothing much about you really, but that's still how I figured it. Maybe it was the boozing and traveling? Congrats on all the changes! I wondered where you'd gone to.

I've been scratching around for everything and anything new. I very recently got an Xbox360 since the new improved one just came out so I've spent some time with it, particularly Mass Effect 2 and Read Dead Redemption. I think my mid-life crisis combined with my life altering move has really changed how I feel about things. I'm still sorting it out. I swear that sometimes I feel like if I had the sweetest machine and a pre-paid 5 year subscription to every game imaginable, I'd still be looking for something different. There's an itch that I'm just not getting scratched. Maybe I should take a trip to Nevada....

Hmm...what have C-RoB and I been doing.

He has been working on his art and lifting weights. I have been preparing for the CPHQ Exam, working on the occasional knitting project, and lifting weights. I can't wait until I take the exam, because that means I can get back to reading for fun rather than feeling obligated to read a study guide every time I have a moment to read.

We finally decided to get serious about our exercise habits and the way we eat. So far so good. We are getting caught up on TV series we have missed thanks to Netflix. We finished Sopranos several weeks ago. We're slowly working our way through Heroes. Our favorite at the moment is Pawn Stars.

We are officially boring.

One of your knitting projects is Baby-Hom's favorite baby blanket... so we thank you again!

Looking awesome, Charlie! Are they up for sale or just for show right now? I love the new black and white pieces. :)

We have also been doing a lot of TV watching: True Blood, Pillars of the Earth, Bored to Death, Boardwalk Empire, Weeds... and Dexter starts this weekend!

I'm still doing research for my degree. It was pretty crazy this summer and it's already even more crazy.... I'm sure it only gets worse from here. Other than that I've been playing SC2 a few times a week.

I've been busy with a couple things lately.

Last year my brother had a Hallowe'en party on the same day that he closed the purchase of his house. Since then, we did the demo ourselves to save a boatload of money and then let the contractor work on it for many many moons. Last month I moved in with my brother and have been helping him finish a bunch of projects that the contractor wanted thousands of dollars to do. My main job has been safety inspector - I make sure my brother doesn't get too carried away with all the new power tools he's purchased. He's planning a Hallowe'en party/Housewarming party this year so people can see how much it's changed.

My other year long project is also getting very close to finally being completed. My band finally found someone that we're happy with to mix our album. We have 3 songs 90% finished and should have that many more by the end of the week. After we all give him our notes, it shouldn't be much more than a month before we have it completed. (knock on wood)

Still picking up my life... Moved to where I live now on April 1.... finally (as of yesterday) I can find the floor in the living room.... not because I got through everything, no.. I just moved it all into a room I am not using otherwise :)
Starting to feel the pull of coming back to the game... not sure when or if I will.
Made a trip to Shambhala in August... that was awesome... I volunteered this year, but I don't think I would do that again. Getting in free was nice and I like the idea of supporting them in that way, but the disorganization on the volunteer staff side of things was ridiculous... :) I think I will just buy a ticket for next year and support them that way instead...

Other than that, just been busy working mostly...

I have been...
Dealing with birthdays. Many of them. Dealing with my kids' school stuff. Daily. Working. Treasuring my very random days off. Training for my future black belt. Taking long walks with The Don. Baking new things (but that really isn't all that time-consuming...more like something to do to relax).

And every day, my youngest son has a New! Idea! he wants to try out that he needs me for: Helping him put together a book because he's an author. Helping him with a science experiment because he's a scientist. Helping him cook something new because he's a chef. Attending his class because he built a pretend school in his room and he's a principal/teacher. You get the idea. That is my free time.

My name is Gleja and I've been WoW sober for 17 months.

"Hi, Gleja!"

I've been biking, brewing beer, drinking said beer, etc. Not much to report, really. I check in on wow.com once in a while to see if Blizzard has managed to make the idea of playing WoW appealing again. So far they have not.

But that upcoming Lego MMO? That could be sweet!

I would like to add that I have not forgotten about you guys.

For instance, I saw this today and it reminded me of Xan.

Volunteering at the library, getting ready to start a new teaching gig (tomorrow!), trying to figure out stuff for Blizzcon, lots of reading, not enough writing.
