I was curious who all was planning to come out this way for DragonCon this year? I know a bunch of you have come in years past, and like a lazy ass, I have never hooked up. But I thought I might grab Perseous and come down and join you all for dinner one night (plus I really want a chance to see y'all dress up again :) ) The pictures were awesome!

If you're there you can come meet me, Xqualin and Beardedflame at the Coffee Shop of Horrors booth. You could also try some of our coffee and maybe take some home *hint hint*.

Also - we usually do dinner one night for the crew over at Trader Vic's in the Hilton that is part of the convention. The food is a little pricey, but really good. Plus they have this enormous cocktail menu full of drinks prepared by very angry bartenders who try to get you as drunk as possible in the shortest possible time.

I'm trying to get Beardedflame to dress as a giant hot dog this year so Xqualin (in drag) can walk around the con yelling, "Ask me about my weiner!"

Arachne and I and baby-Hom will be there.

I'm not sure exactly how we're getting there yet because I haven't been able to buy plane tickets on account of not knowing where we'll be living at the time... but hey, we'll be there.

I may go, if I can swing another trip in the same month as VSFest, and if I can crash on someone's hotel room floor or something!

All signs point to my being there.

So it seems like there are quite a few people thinking about going. I have deceided to start keeping a list at the top of this thread. If we get enough people, I will splurge and rent us a Whirlyball court one night for drunken bumper car battles.

Hmm, I'm a 4 hour drive away. It could happen, at least for a two day/one night.

Fox and I are thinking of coming. This isn't something we would normally attend but if a bunch of people are going this year we might try to make it. And drunken whirlyball just sounds too fun to miss.

Drunken whirlyball is 10 kinds of awesome.

Its just a couple of hours away from me so I will put myself as a tentative :)

Update: looks like I'm going (thanks Homreker). I'm probably driving down with a co-worker Thursday, arriving mid-day, and leaving sometime Monday. And I'm DEFINITELY up for whirlyball!

Yeah so, our plane is going to land early Thursday afternoon (September 1), and I'll be in town until late Tuesday morning.

If I can find a way down to Atlanta that weekend I would love to whirlyball AND DragonCon. Felicia Day is going to be there. Mmmmmhmmmm.

Last year we did the Steam Punk world record attempt. And we may do that again this year, but I don't know that we'll be out there for the parade...

I just wanted to touch base about getting together for DragonCon again. I wanted to see if anyone's status has changed (either coming or not coming) and also find out what day would be best for Whirlyball. As of right now, Friday, Saturday and Sunday all have an open court in the evening, but I would like to take care of reservations this week so we don't lose out.

Let me know if anyone has any prior engagements (or specific DragonCon events) that would conflict with any of these nights.

I'm still planning on being there. I have no specific plans for any of those nights, but i'm also kind of clueless wrt the schedule. guess I should check it out at some point. For those who are more tuned in (eg, Hom) -- which night would be best for Whirlyball?

It all really just depends on what you are willing to miss. The evenings have various costume contests and later at night there are various concerts.

They still don't have the schedules up for all of the events, but if you look over the "featured" event list, most of those are set already for the evenings.

I don't think Fox and I are going to make it. We have lots going on this summer. Between San Francisco this week and Vegas in October I think it will be too hard to squeeze in a trip to Atlanta. Have fun and take lots of pics!

I'm still going to be there and will be bringing a friend with me, if it matters for your reservations.

Could I ask a favor and ask that it not be too late at night? I'm planning on using Marta to get around. I suppose there's always cabs though (you have those down there, right?)
