I thought that I had shamelessly plugged Eidos's Deus Ex. It's a very dated game graphics-wise but is, in my opinion, the very best overall RPG you can get. If you are prepared to look past the graphics, it is a must have.

Having said that, the third such game (made by Eidos Montreal), which is the prequel to the original, is due out tomorrow, 08/23/11. The initial reviews range from positive to very positive.

The guy in the PCGamer review actually says the best game ever made is the original Deus Ex and I have to concur (if I am pressed to pick just one). He thinks the new one is just shy of that mark.

I'm pretty stoked about the new one coming out and that's a purchase that was on my radar. For those RPG fans that have been in Siberia the past few months, I'm passing along the word.

The best game ever made was XCOM: UFO Defense.

You land.
Doors open.
First move: the aliens roll a grenade into your ship.
All your guys die.

Screw that game. Masters of Orion kicked its ass.

Fren...I think the reason why you didn't like it was that they marketed it as, "Albertan Nights: The ballad of Kurt Browning".

Somehow the game gets lost in translation.

X-Com was loads of fun. I spent house playing that. I also spent hours spending Master of Orion... so I could go either way.

There was no fear in MoO...There were no "yeah motherfucker I got you" moments in MoO.

MoO was great, just not as great as XCOM...Besides, MoM>MoO...

I loved MOM too. I got it from gog.com so I can relive it when I want.

I guess I am curious wether or not bren and pils have played Deus Ex. If you have and you choose XCOM I can't blame you as I loved that game too (and have it on Steam and have played it recently).

My biggest pet peeve and frankly a game breaker was the long load times either between zones or even when reloading a game. This has been addressed. With this out of the way, I can say more about the quality of the game.

So far very interesting. The story is unfolding nicely. I am adjusting to the play mechanics, which are different from the previous two, although with some similarities. I am still trying to figure out the hacking part of the game. I don't think it's that hard, just confusing at the start and requiring some practice to understand the nuiances.
