I know this conversation comes up every now and again, but its that time for me to get yet another new headset. I'm currently using my back-up non-USB set that Sapph got me while I was in Iraq- it worked perfectly for the audio jacks on the front of the laptop I had there, but this thing its on it's last legs. USB is mostly standard now, it seems and I like that functionality. So with a budget of ~$60, what do y'all suggest?

This is my headset of choice. It's portable, folds up, and comes with a hard case. It also has a USB - Dual mini jack adaptor. Which means that you can use the headset plugged into the USB drive or directly into your input/output jacks. And if they break you can use the adaptor to give any other headset the same functionality.

It doesn't fold up or have a case.Same with the dual audio/usb jack.

Here is my latest...I am a bit rough on headsets; so I decided that I needed something a bit more robust.

Styg, this is the one I had and just broke. I was wearing the headset when I had to suddenly leap up to rescue a kitten about to do something very dangerous. You'd think that with the USB/dual audio adapter, the cords would have popped out, or at least the USB would have unplugged, but no. The cord ripped right out at the base where it enters into the headset part.
I've always liked logitech but found them to be flimsy. I'm with Pils on this one.

So now I'm back to using my old Sennheiser, which is not USB'd, but has been through hell and back and still functions. I'm impressed with its durability.

Bren - The only issue I had with my headset, the usb adapter stopped working and Logitech sent me a whole new headset to replace it.
Mine has been abused by the children constantly. Max is always finding ways to get it off my desk (when I don't put it far enough out of his reach, for some reason he keeps getting taller.) So far it has held up pretty well.

This is my headset of choice. .
I use this one, or a very similar model too. the only problem is it makes my ears hurt after awhile. i also can't seem to hear everyone through the headphones, so to alliveiate the pain in my ears and to actually hear half of you, i put you on speakers and wear it around my neck. so yeah, dual unintended feature!

I'm using this one right now, although it isn't USB. Find a nice Best Buy employee to use a discount for you. It's very comfy, even when wearing for hours at a time. Music sounds prettay prettay good through it as well.
Honestly, after having this one for the last 6 or 8 months or so, I'll probably upgrade to another one of their products soon.
