Oh hey so it's been a really long time, and I don't blame any of you if you're sitting there thinking "Statler? Hem? Who?"
BUT I MISS YOU ALL, and I wanted to say hi.
The short version of where I've been: last time I spent much time on WoW, work was getting crazy. I was with a web start-up, and, if you know anything about start-up culture, you know that every day can make or break a company.
Welp. The company ultimately broke. Things got really busy, and, despite the best efforts of every person on staff, the company went under. I was laid off at the end of September after months of pulling my own hair out and fighting desperately to help the company stay afloat.
Over the next few weeks of general lazing about and trying to get back to some kind of relaxed state of mind after all that outright panic, I found out about a new graduate program at the University of Florida for a masters in Web Design and Online Communication. I took the GRE, applied and got in, and I started classes in January, so now graduate school has taken over my life.
It's going really well. I love my classes, I love what I'm doing, and I'm excited to start teaching undergraduate classes this fall. Just waiting for the curriculum board to approve my classes and set them on the schedule at this point, but the chair of the journalism department sounds excited about my ideas, and it's a huge honor for a graduate student to be given the opportunity to come up with, design and teach her own classes, so I'm really looking forward to it.
And in the meantime... I spend all my time doing homework while I catch up on TV shows. Which is fine and all, but gets really old sometimes. Naturally, this means it's time to pick WoW up again.
So I hope/plan for this to mean that I'm getting back in the game, and I'll see you all around very soon. Ideally, the moment this updater finishes running.
In closing: You're all awesome. Please fill the terrible void in my life with your collective shenanigans.

You've always been one of those, "I wonder what happened to her..." people when I look through the guild roster. Glad everything is going well, and yay, kick butt with your class curriculum!
