So I've been playing this game to the point where I bought a private server. Most of the guys on it are part of my veteran's gaming group , but it is open to the public.

Looks very cool, are your enemies, AI, or other players?
And the most important question...is there fishing?
I don't get hammered much anymore, just occasionally. I may give this a go, and manage to try not to annoy any core gamers.

It's very very early alpha, and the developers have admitted to not really knowing exactly what the final product will be.
For now, there are AI bears and wolves that will eat you, zombies that are in the alpha only as loot-delivery vehicles (this will NOT be a zombie game), but they can be pretty nasty too. There are irradiated areas of the map that are deadly and also you can starve to death (easier than you think).
All that, other players are still the greatest danger. Your best bet at survival is to strictly avoid all contact with anyone you don't already know. It's a lot like being a caveman.
Having a lot of fun in this so far and seeing where it will go. It's definitely just a novelty at this point, and currently doesn't reflect anything close to a finished, playable product.

Sounds far out, maybe I'll just live subterranean. I'll evolve big eyes and cough a lot.
I looked at this during the sale. I'm transitioning some things in my life so not sure if/when I might try it. I have some free gift money though so maybe I'll be looking you up.
Not to hijack but I am living in Hawaii until February 9th if anyone is out this way. I don't think I mentioned that before?

Where in Hawaii? I spent nearly two weeks on the Big Island in October.

Oahu, staying in Waikiki and working at Queen's Hospital. It's a temporary job that I took because we were thinking of moving here. But, I hate the job and not staying.

I fell in love with Hawaii but I really wouldn't want to live on Oahu unless I had a lot of money. It's pretty much just like any other metropolitan area with a high cost of living.

I work in a hospital. There are hospitals on the other islands, but not many so I'm almost shoe-horned into Honolulu. You are right though about it being just like the other overcrowded cities. I hate living in the city here and working at this hospital.
