I really may not play MMO's at all anymore.

I did that too with WoW! And yes, you do have to delete soulbound and account bound items to delete a toon.

There should be a special vendor to sell some of this stuff to so you can pass along some moolah for those sorts of items.

Take a good long break and maybe you'll get your will to MMO back. Mine's asserting itself but I am not as gung-ho as I used to be.
