Just going to throw this out there and see if we have any interest. Is anyone interested in raiding this expansion? Nothing too serious just trying the old VS way of doing content. Which is to say relaxed with no pressure. As I said this is just to kind of fill if there is any interest. If there is not any interest then nothing to worry about. But if there is we can make plans to get some runs going eventually.
Just update this thread if you're interested and what role you're interested in playing.

I'll go on the weekends. How is raiding in Draenor? If it requires reading a book and counting, forget it.

I'll probably focus on the paladin to tank and the rogue for melee.

I'd certainly be interested. Probably mainly with Frenial, but I might have Ferrous and/or Frocked available when it comes time.

I'll probably be interested at some point, but I'm not going "hardcore" again with this expansion, so I don't know how long it will take me to level and gear Rastus up. Also, since I'm leveling balance, there will be a learning curve if you need me to heal!
Am I going to have to parse DPS?

You'll clearly need advanced multi-variable calculus in theorycrafting as shown in this post: http://www.sacredduty.net/2013/08/08/updated-diminishing-returns-coefficients-all-tanks/.

I feel tired and dirty after reading through that.

I am in. I skipped Cata, so its been a while for me since we raided as a guild.
I have Karagh (DK) ready for DPS. I can convert him to a tank if needed but I am also leveling Vorid (Pal) as a tank. He should be ready in 2 weeks or so.

I think I would like to do that. DPS has always been my thing, but it seems I have been roped into tanking enough in the past that I might as well sign up that way too. My DPS gear is decent enough, I just changed my loot spec to Blood to start getting some tanking gear.
So that horrific link looks like it's a theorycrafting article aimed solely at other theorycrafters. Which is good, I am lazy as fuck and found out over this past week that I have basically been doing rogue wrong even though it is clearly printed out in fairly readable words on icyveins how to do it right. Situation is improving despite my lack of elementary school level reading, let alone differential calc.
I am proud to say that even in my sweaty-handed panic of having set up my prot warrior action bars roughly 3 mins before entering the dungeon queue, I found (introductory level) WoD tanking to be very straight forward:
1. there is no aggro concern unless someone runs ahead of tank and starts killing, thus committing several no-no's so not really the tank's concern
2. just keep pushing your damage mitigation buttons in accordance with whatever your Core Abilities tab/basic class articles as part of a basic rotation
3. oh-shit buttons for oh-shit moments or whenever a boss emotes something across the middle of your screen that will bring pain
Non-warriors like Jaanaanaa, did you find your experience similar?
Hopefully the gear level requirements are nice and simple as they appear (615 to start heroicking? 635 to start leet raidz? I believe). I will look into the strategies for the raids available so far and see how much knees-bent-running-about away from other people is actually required.

The TLDR version of intro to tanking is that you're fighting the group more than the mobs. It's only at the super high level, world first type of raid that the differences in class make a real difference. The technical stuff like mitigation and positioning are easy to teach but dealing with the group is the real problem. As for item levels for content, you can get into heroics at 610 (I think) and you should do ok as long as you are paying attention and using your buttons. For randoms I would not suggest you tank at all. It's not worth dealing with the people.

So much that last comment. I never start tanking randoms until I outgear the content enough for it not to matter.

I'd be in, but probably only on weekends due to being PST. Beam would be in for DPS or healing (probably preferably healing, but pew pew is also fun) and I'm working on figuring out how to Warrior tank as Shinui, but can also melee DPS.
And I need a new headset, and to figure out what the hell is wrong with Mumble on my laptop. So, it will likely be a bit, but I did enjoy the old VS raiding.
PS I'm sure Stranger could be talked into it, too.

Oh holy crapbunnies I can use the forum again! HI EVERYONE.
I am down for raiding, except that I don't think I'm geared for it yet. I have no idea. There's probably a button somewhere that'll be like YOU HAVE GEARED WISELY or YOU HAVE GEARED POORLY. Also if there isn't that button, someone should make it pronto.
Valmarriz is heals or dps, but please let it be heals, because oh god I love healing and they have nerfed shadow priest dps something fierce.
Moselle is frost or blood, but I haven't tanked since Cata and I have no idea what I'm doing. Would love to learn again, but that'll take some time.
Sviraj is a mage, so it's gonna be dps. It'll be arcane or frost, pick yer poison, but it's dps or dps. She's also low gear.
Devre will be 100 soon-ish. She's a rogue. So. Tank, obv.
Deathcap will be 100...maybe this weekend? He's an afflock and I don't care if they nerfed afflocks because nothing is better than dots, amirite.
Valne is a cat druid. He's in no rush to hit 100, but it'll happen eventually.
Those are my characters in Draenor. Only three are at 100 right now, but I should have at least one more by the end of this coming weekend. So, uh, I will do any of the things that need doing as long as I am tall enough to get on the ride.

There kind of is....
Go here: http://www.icy-veins.com/wow/class-guides
Click on the relevant class and spec. There's really 2 pages in the guide we're concerned with at our level.
First is the rotations page. Don't worry if you don't get everything perfect. Just have the general idea of what abilities are more important and should be used first before others. <Example: On the Ret Pally page, you should use crusader strike before judgement before exorcism. Don't worry if you have no idea what these are, just understand that WoD has moved just about everyone to a priority system where some abilities should be hit before others if multiple abilities come off cooldown at the same time.>
Second is the stats priority page. You'll see a list starting with the most important stat in the basic section.
Generally speaking, as long as you try to make sure each piece of gear has at one of the top 2 secondary stats. <Example: For Ret Pally, ideal pieces of gear will have haste and mastery. Gear that's not ideal but still decent will have either haste OR mastery. Gear that you'll likely pass on will have something like multistrike / versatility.>
So for 2 items at the same ilvl, the piece with the higher priority secondary stats is the one you want.
For items that have differing ilvls, it's likely that the difference in primary stats (Str, Agi, Int) will make up for the poor secondary stats.
Any time you have no idea if an item is an upgrade or not, you can check askmrrobot.com. Basically you load up your character with the old item, click on the item in question, check the numbers in the list.
In my example, I'm wearing the Ogre-Eater Treads with the yellow bar and the E on the right side. This particular set of boots have poor secondary stats for ret pallies and is at the bottom of the ilvl 640 items. However, even a 630 item with good secondary stats would be a downgrade simply because the Str difference makes up for the poor secondary stats.

Feel free to ask me if there are questions about using tools for gearing.

Dondoh and I are interested, our only concern is our Vampire Schedule. We're good to go with Tri healing and Dawndoh DPSing.
