I just wanted to let you guys know that I have officially cancelled my subscription to WoW. I love this game, but I can't stand this anymore. I put up with the lag, the random disconnects, the 400+ queues. I put up with not being notified that the server I transferred all my characters over to (to escape the lag and 400+ queues) was 3 hours ahead of me, all because I really do love this game. But I've had enough. I tried to log in after the patch today, and after trying and retrying for hours I got in to find that a number of the custom mods I use to fit the game to my playing style were broken. I say a number because I don't know exactly how many of these clever, useful customizations are no longer working. I got an error message for one which essentially froze my game, so I forced log-out, spent an hour logging back in, only to get an error message for another one essentially freezing my game again. Maybe I'm set in my ways, but I don't want to play this game if it won't even allow me to have an addon that shows my druid's mana when she's shapeshifted. It's absurd. This is the last straw, the breaking point, etc etc.
So, my account is still active until the 2nd of April. I really hope they have fixed these fuck ups by then, but I'm not holding my breath. I want to thank all of you for being such a great group of people, and I hope if sometime in the future things have changed and I feel like I can play again, that I will still have a place in this guild.

And I'm much on much the same page as Phouka, I've had a blast playing WoW and lately with y'all. I think you're a great bunch of people and only wish I could have gotten to know you better.
However, paying for lack of service has never been my thing. I gave Blizzard a fair swing of it, but after 3+ months of solid issues, this much recent bunch of crap pretty much killed my taste for the game.
As Phouka said, we're both live till April 2nd, if Blizzard have actually improved their systems (I can't help but chuckle) and the lag, queues , random disconnects, server resets, broken content, rollbacks etc... are finally done, well then I look forward to playing more with you all.
If not, well RFOnline, and DDO look mighty tasty and I've been hearing some very nice things about them.

I hear ya' guys. I've been playing since release, and this is not the first patch that has totally effed playability. I love everything that Blizzard has made - always good, solid games. It amazes me that they can't test things better before releasing patches. I hate having to re-do all my mods after each patch, but heck, I'm used to it now. Anyway, I hope Blizz gets this crap under control and perhaps you guys will be back. If not, keep us updated on where you are, maybe we'll see you elsewhere!
I understand, guys. And I applaud you for sticking to your guns and sticking it to The Man! Rock on! (And come back if you miss us, please! :) )

I'll miss you, but I certainly agree with your decision. I'm close do doing the same. Sadly I wouldn't be able to play those other fancy MMOs on my Mac.

I agree completely with you all.
There is absolutely no reason why Blizzard is screwing things up this badly.
Like most I was quite pissed about not even getting to log in yesterday to see all the new stuff. It wasn't until I was halfway to work last night when the truth hit me.
Why am I so pissed? Really the only thing that's interesting is the "Dungeon 2" armor upgrades. No real quests, just reworking and nerfing of existing ones and a Priest class rewrite. Oh yeah, can't forget the Druid "Relic" stuff.
This patch is really quite pathetic if you take a good look at it. In fact, none of the WoW patches have been "take the day off from work to play" worthy.
The sad, sad truth of the matter is that each WoW patch is roughly on par (both quantity and quality) with the equivalent AC1/AC2 content. In fact, many of the AC1/AC2 patches have surpassed EVERYTHING WoW has put in so far. I took many patch days off from work during my stint in the AC worlds, haven't even thought of it since joining WoW.
AC2 had at most 12-15 people working on the "Live" team at it's peak. Blizzard probably has at least triple that size and yet we get roughly the same service and content. That's damn pathetic if you ask me.
It's not the game that keeps me logging into WoW, it's the people in this guild that keep me playing.

It's just another rushed patch. If you read the Test Forums, they are full of complaints and angry people. I'm dreading trying AV with the new rep changes. Really wanted to hit officer level, but looks like it will be too time intensive with a warrior. Oh well.
Phouka and Talbon, take some time off. Live real life and remember that we will still be here when you get the urge to give it another shot.

I bought WoW at release and played for several months. I then cancelled and gave Blizz a year to fix their crap.
So, now I'm back and there are a great deal of improvements. One new annoyance for me to deal with came in the form of server queues. So, I packed my bags and came to Eitrigg.
Since the server move, I've been plagued by lag spikes that make the game unplayable. I'm giving the game a couple of weeks but if my lag problem doesn't go away, I'm going to be forced to quit as well.

Of course you'll have a place in the guild. I'm kind of sad to see you go, actually. You two were shaping up to be just as over the top as the rest of us, and that's always a nice surprise.
Hope to see you back soon!

*grin* The whole patch thing is just the straw, thank you all for your kind words but I do want to be clear on that.
Its the three months of leading up to the patch, the service received and just exemplified by the patch that have caused Phouka and I to cancel our accounts.
We've given Blizzard till April 2nd, if they trully updated their server hardware that should be enough time to fairly judge if the WoW enviroment is worth playing in. Because WoW is just an enviroment, as you said Ripp Thorn; I don't log on to do the quests. While some quests still make me smile, the whole "kill x of y" or its many permutations lost interest for me about a month into the game.
Its the people to talk to, the things to see, and the moments that can only happen with multiple people that I log on for.
All the patch stuff? I can take or leave, its nice, but the delay is not what is causing me to pack up.
Its that I can't log on, meet people, form community. Heck, I left Elune where I did know people, just to escape the atrocious lag and queues. I'm paying for a service that for quite awhile now Blizzard has been unable to provide, unless anyone forgets that weekend that Eitrigg and a few other servers kept crashing?
So if Blizzard has finally gotten its head together, if the servers are upgraded to actually be able to deal with the workload and they get them stable before the 2nd. Well then I look forward to seeing even more of you, but I don't have a lot of faith in Blizzard at the moment.

What he said. ^
I've been giving WoW "a couple more weeks" for quite a while now. Maybe I do just need to take some time off, but as it stands this game gives me as much frustration as it does enjoyment, and it sometimes tips the scales.

From Blizzard:
" In January we outlined our plans for improving the performance and overall play experience in World of Warcraft. Weâre farther along with implementing some of the changes mentioned in that update, and we wanted to share the details with you.
Weâve spent the past few weeks obtaining new, top-of-the-line equipment and preparing it for deployment at a new World of Warcraft site. This new site, which we expect to go live by the beginning of April, will allow us to open new realms to accommodate our growing player base. In addition, we will be able to transfer existing realms to this new hardware to alleviate pressure on our current systems.
To make sure the launch of the new site goes well, we plan on testing the new hardware, along with the 1.10 content patch, on the public test realms. This testing phase is scheduled to go live soon. In addition to monitoring the impact of the new game content, we will be able to observe the performance of the new hardware under conditions that closely resemble a live environment."

Just to chime in here. The feelings that are pointed at Blizzard are standard feelings of any player that has played a game for so long and watch a game develop, but essentially have no control over. I'm fairly new to WoW (at least I would look at it that way but I guess it has almost been a year). While lag, disconnects and queue times can be frustrating .... it pales in comparison to what I have seen with SWG. I played SWG from beta. Excellent game and awesome potential. After 1.5 - 2 years SOE screws over the veteran player base saying it is for the better.....lag was awful, disconnect were existant, and don't get me started on losing what was in your inventory when you crossed a server boundary. Follow that up with SOE's shady business practices and you have a company who ticked off LOTS of players.
At least when Blizzard says they are going to do something they have done it .... SOE used to say it and then leave you alone and never address the topic again.
Obviously opinions are going to differ from person to person, and when a game stops being fun .... then maybe it is time for a break or to move on. House of Morrigan expands so many games because of this reason. Wish you will in any endeavor you seek.

I think the big test will be over the next 4 days. Can we do our Strath, DM & weekend runs without the server crashing? If the play is smooth this weekend, then I'll be pretty happy. If the server performs like it did last weekend I'll start fingering the Cancel button.
