Sounds like one of the IP Hops between you and the WoW server might be suffering from latency problems. Perhaps it has a constant update problem, or something to do with its DNS refreshing. Its hard to say really, I suggest timing these spikes. Next time one occurs, mark down the time and continue doing so for at least 5 or so cases, then you can see if it has a pattern.
Another possible test is to traceroute your connection to WoW, start pinging each of the IPs and see what the latency for each is. Watch for spikes there as well.
A couple of possible quick fixes:
One, try going to a command prompt, Start -> Run -> Type in "cmd" and press Enter
Now type in:
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /registerdns
This could fix your problem by updating the path to the WoW servers. The other fix requires you to enter into your registry to make some slight changes to how dynamic updating is handled. If you're not comfortable doing this, I suggest leaving it be.

The above link gives a rundown on how to make this work.
Hope this works out for you.

Thanks Talbon!
The duration is usually an average of 5 minutes before it resolves itself...I'll start logging actually times.
What IP or domain do I use to trace route WoW?
I'll also try the registry trick. I never had this problem with WoW before moving to Eitrigg but in the long run...I can't continue to play if it stays like this.

That is a good question, I can give you the IP I use and hope that is the same one you use, but I don't know how Blizzard has setup their network architecture. If you're on the East Coast for example, you might use a completely different gateway that I do on the West Coast.
DN: us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
IP: 12.129.232.115
Unfortunately that is the login server, couldn't test for the actual Eitrigg server as currently my account is on hold as Phouka are still taking our vacation from WoW.

When you're in game, alt+tab out and do a "netstat -a" command from a command prompt. It'll show you what you're connected to and where to trace.

If anyone can help out by giving my post on the WoW forums (link in first post) an arbitrary bump, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks for all your help Raeb! I'm going to install WoW on my non-gaming computer tonight and see how that works. I want to rule out more problems with the network card. I actually have a spare that I can pop in if that is determined to be the cause. I somehow feel that this has to be on Blizzard's end, yet only I have the issue so that makes no sense *sigh* I popped in EQ2 today and played lag free...I just don't get it!

Not sure what the problem is but it looks like it's them, not you. lax1.attens.net appears to be a west coast server. That's weird, I thought CST & EST were hosted in EST.
Well it looks like you're not the only one with the problem.

and.. looks like your thread was deleted. :-\ Unless there's a problem with the forums. (wouldn't that be a shocker)
