UPDATE: Rather than create a new thread...It looks like Comcast may in fact be the problem. I have a tech coming out again on Friday. I've actually also had two nights without lag...so it looks like I may reactivate my account before the 10th...yay!
****************************************************************
I'm sorry to report that I've cancelled my account. The account is playable until 5/10.
I enjoy the game and I absolutely love VS but as many of you know, I cannot play due to excessive latency issues. Blizzard's horrible tech support has infuriated me to the point that I feel it is my duty to cancel the account.
I'll stay in touch and I likely will be back to try WoW again when this fabled new hardware gets rolled out. For the time being, I'm going to focus more on work/school and playing some lag free Guild Wars.
See you on the forums and perhaps Azeroth someday...

Thanks Sherica! I'll miss you too :(
I will remain active on the forums and I'm still able to play through 5/10. I'd like to think that server performance and lag issues will someday be addressed, at which point I will come back to WoW.
Otherwise, I hope to see everyone in Age of Conan ;D

That stinks Estarrio, but it's the only thing you can do. Hope we get you back soon!
I'll miss you, Estarrrrrrio! Thanks for getting my hair so shiny and full!

Sucks to see it come to this Estarrio, but if you can't play there's no sense in dealing with the frustration and putting more money into Blizzard's pockets.
Hope they fix the servers before your time expires.

Estarrio, I hate to see you go, but I understand how it is with all the Lag. The game would be unplayable. I hope the problems get rectified soon and we see you online again.

Thanks for all the kind words! I definitely will stay active on these forums and I'll be back once Blizz gets their act together. I hated hitting the cancel button but the game is becoming literally unplayable.
Blizz keeps saying its my problem but I can't see how it's possible.
My ISP tested the connection. I have been stress testing other games and connection benchmark programs and my connection has been perfect. I've tried dismantling my network and running directly from the cable modem and again, same issues. I updated all drivers and made every necessary change but again...I only have problems in WoW. My computer is self built and is capable of running Oblivion and Guild Wars on the highest of settings. Trace routes run during high latency periods show that my ISP's servers are fine during the spikes. Since these problems started after the move to Eitrigg, I can only imagine that there must be some Blizz server creating a bottleneck for me somwhere. I should try to find out if anyone else on Eitrigg uses Comcast and is in Mass...
At any rate...I hope that Blizz fixes their problems and I'll be joining you soon. Expect to see me in-game here and there up until the tenth anyway.

;( I haven't mentioned this before, since it wasn't same sort of issues I have had in the past, but if it is driving you to quit, I will give you the info I gleaned.
A while back, with patch 1.7 I think, I had an issue where every time I went to turn in a quest, I would get disconnected. I couldn't figure out why, never had an issue before. Called up everyone involved, my ISP (charter), blizzard, bitched all over teh forums, hacked all kinds of registry shit and still nothing.
Last ditch effort, I knew that the cable modem I had was a couple years old, so I went down the charter office and had them replace it with the new one. Installed it and it fixed the problem.
If you haven't already, might want to give it a shot. Take your current modem down and see if they will upgrade you.

I'm really sorry that the reason you're taking an indefinite "break" is due to Blizzard's services. I took a break myself a few months after the game was released but it was mainly for personal reasons.
I know a fair amount about computers... but next to nothing about networking or how this newfangled internet actually works... so I cannot help you in any way with your problems, and for that I'm sorry.
This is a hard group to quit.... and I know we'll see you consistently on the forums just as I was while I was in my hiatus.
O, and in case I never said it before: Your avatar kicks ass!
