This post is to clear up for all of the Paladins in the guild exactly what the relics are, which are available, and what they do.

Relics were introduced around patch 1.9. There are relics for 3 different classes: Paladin, Shaman, and Druid. Specifically these are intended for classes that cannot use ranged weapons and otherwise have no use for the ranged slot. Blizzard has stated that there will be MUCH better items added in the Expansion pack, the Burning Crusade, but as of right now these are just to add a little of flavor. There are 3 relics per class. None of them are particularly great or anything, but every little bit helps.

For Paladins, here is what we are looking at:

1) 22400

This one drops off of Magmus in BRD, near the end of the dungeon. Roughly a 10% drop rate. IMHO, not a particularly useful relic. Once you hit the diminishing returns for the buff, you're talking maybe +30 - +40 armor. Better than nothing, but it doesn't make much of a difference.

2) 22401

This one drops off of Isalien, a summonable boss in DM East (summonable as part of the Tier 0.5 armor quests). Far and away this is WAY better than the Libram of Truth, and can actually help. I'm not sure if this boss spawns on her own though, or if someone HAS to summon her as a part of the tier 0.5 quest chain. I'll do more investigating on this. This is PROBABLY the best Libram for a Retribution spec Pally. Also the best for a protection spec Pally, given the number of Seals you need to throw down after Crusader in order to maintain aggro.

3) 22402

The good news is, this one is actually useful! particularly for end game content, where cleanse is used quite often, particularly by a Holy spec paladin. The bad news is, don't look to see it anytime soon. It drops off of Fankriss the Unyielding, a major boss in AQ40.

The end analysis is that we'll want to look at getting both the 1st and 2nd librams. The 1st libram would be the most useful if you are a holy spec paladin and are PH sometimes, with Improved Devotion Aura, etc. For Protection or Ret spec where you are filling a MT, OT, or DPS role, the 2nd Libram is the best choice. More on this later when I've tried to get them myself.

Here's an excellent source for info on all the relics.

Note that there is nothing for balance druids. Damn you moonkin hatin' Blizzard!
