Just as an FYI: My work seems to have blocked access to this site. Although some days the firewall doesn't catch it...Sooo...I won't be posting as much during the day. But I'll still check the boards every evening.

I also may be moving to bucolic Medway Mass in the next month, pending chicken-business transactions. I'm going to try to manage a seemless service transfer with Comcast so hopefully I'll only be offline a day or two whilst lugging furniture.

A few months ago my work enabled internet blocking to many sites. They gave no warning, it just happened. Our help desk was flooded with calls "I can't get to e-bay anymore" and such. OK, dumbasses! You shouldn't be doing that from work anyway. But anyway, they should have at least informed the rest of IS that this was about to happen...
It's a big deal when you've got 3500+ computers on the network, and suddenly the people who *think* they are important can't get to the site to schedule their tee-times (yes, I work at a hospital, and yes this is a true case). At my location, it's all controlled via the proxy server. Of course I can just turn that off, but they are monitoring all computers with disabled proxy (or so they say). For example, I cannot get to the official WoW site, Thottbott and others. But I don't care! They haven't blocked this site yet, but with the amount of time I spend on it at work, it's only a matter of time...

No warning for me either...although an email after the fact saying "spend less time on the internet" to everyone.

I like the way EMC handled it when I worked there. You had time units to surf...I think it was an hour and a half a day.

Very easily rectified. Small piece of 2x4, copper pipe, 1 nail and a rubber band. Good enough for Religious Zealot Removal. Works great on ghetto machines and they're obnoxious fucking stereo systems too!
