I don't mind the age question being removed, but something as basic as sex I'd like left on there. It's bound to pop up on vent either way, but I hate not knowing how to refer to people.

Yeah, why are we removing gender again...? Anyway, if majority rules and there are no younguns allowed in anyway, what is the point of removing this? Wouldn't have to make sure they're older in order for them to join? That's what I don't get.

Agreed - just drop the age question. Leave the gender there because guys think the sick bastards who play female toons are acktually women...freaks.

the theory is, if you don't know their actual age, you aren't concerned about it. At that point, you only are concerned about their actual behavior.

This contradicts our vote for a Adult only guild, which was voted Yes by the way. If you want to remove the age from the app you have to put in there that this guild is only for persons over the age of 18.

Removing gender is because I believe in respecting people's privacy and it's none of our goddamned business. I ... can't really support forcing people to answer either question, and I certainly can't support, say, asking someone their actual name. It all wraps into one big Not My Business How You Deal With Your Privacy bundle, and supporting that privacy is something about which I feel very, very strongly.

Have a look at the app and let me know if this looks good to everyone.

In my perfect world, the 'where do you live' question is replaced with 'what time zone are you in,' because that's really what we're using it for. At least, that SHOULD be what we're using it for -- or at least some explanation that that's what we're looking for with that question.

I do think that the 'we expect everyone to be an adult, so please for the love of god if you're not at least pretend' is as good a compromise as we're going to get. I'm still not comfortable with the gender question. I don't know what to do about that, other than suck it up, I guess.

I like it! I really like how you replaced the age question with that statement, and how you kept in the gender question but made "none of your business" an option. Looks good to me.

Personally I think the gender question is just fine now, since not answering it IS an option. If they want to be 100% private they can be, if they want to answer it they can do that too.

I think the app is a good compromise. If someone really doesn't want to tell their gender, they can always put undecided, so I don't mind that the question is there. That way if you want to come clean you can, but if you don't, you don't have to.

My hope is that one day someone answers that question with, "It's Pat! It's Pat! Iiiiit's Pat!"

Actually I did have two questions in it, specifically on the contacting players in-game section.

1) Who the hell is HunterD? :D

2) Why in the world do you want them to contact Afflack? He'll scare them off! ;)

not answering has always been an option.

That's true, Sherica, but I've seen in the past some people get all freaky when someone decides not to answer it (re: Soraya). That's giving them a black mark right away for no good reason, and I don't think that's fair.

Seriously, give me a reason WHY we'd need to know someone's gender, and I'll shut up about it, I promise. I just don't understand why we have to have it at all, especially when if they use vent we may (or may not) find out anyway.

We are drama freaks and enjoy the inevitable questioning (which will still happen even if we don't ask them outright) that happens when we don't know absolutely EVERYTHING WE POSSIBLY CAN. It wasn't a black mark just curiosity.

We're nosy. About privacy, I don't see how knowing whether or not TOOTALLJONES is a boy or girl is invading their privacy, when as has been stated, if they get on vent, you know it anyway. But that's just me, I'm not normal most of the time.

We still let Sor in. We just had a lot of fun guessing & gossiping. It in no way affected his participation in the guild. We were more concerned about his drug addiction than his gender.

You also didn't answer, Aro. And it in no way affected your participation in the guild.
