They're wearing armor that comes from progressing beyond that encounter ^_^; It's just a parody. Also in clear versions of the video you can see the guild text where someone has written 'WIPE TIME,' besides the hyperbolic nature of their dialogue.

It's kind of become a crazy cult phenomenon though, as the wikipedia article describes.

And yeah, I don't think BWL was out yet when they did that video.
