When cute girls at work ask about World of Warcraft, do not actually start talking about the game. It will only end in them telling you how their ex-boyfriend used video games to "build a wall" around himself and shut her out. It will also end the harmless flirting.

Never talk about the game to non-gamers. Keep it brief lest you want to end up looking a no-life geek. :( I just can NOT talk about it with friends who don't game. They get this look of pity in their eyes.

It was all around, a mistake. Not like I was looking for anything from a co-worker, but yeah. The sad look in her eyes made me question my existance (not really).

I have to continually remind Viraj about Things We Do Not Talk About At Work.

I'm curious as to how long that list is, and what's on it.

Mostly? Warcraft. Of course, she's already picked up a bunch of Nerdy Warcraft Boyfriends just from blabbing about in the breakroom. XD

One of the cute girls in the IT department is a Big o' WOW addict. I thought about using it as an "in", but WOW geekdom doesn't change that fact that she's a co-worker. And for all I know she's married with a gazillion kids, and doesn't wear a ring because she works in IT.

.___. Well they ASKED what I did last night and I said that I went to Zul'Farrak and then you said not to talk about Warcraft and I hadn't even said anything about how cute my imp was.

Also, Gilad, if she isn't married you should totally invite her to the guild because Val needs more in his stable.

Gilad. She's cute and plays warcraft and you're not even SURE she's married? You need to send some spies in or something.

This is a sad story indeed. Ive been in this situation before it can get out of hand quickly leaving you saying to yourself why in the world did I mention that I am saving up for an epic mount.

I find a very good way to shut coworkers who give the pity look is, "So... what did you do last night then? Oh, you watched American Idol? Yeah, that's definitely a more adult and productive way to spend your time."

Nothing against people who enjoy the show. My point is that it pisses me off when TV addicts act like they're better than game addicts. I mean... seriously, do they HONESTLY THINK it's more "mature" to park ass in front of Supernatural than a video game? God.

Not only that, but I saved a world by killing some dragon guy WHILE watching tv and drinking a lot of alcohol. BEAT THAT BOB.

Oh it's worse than that. I found myself trying to describe the VS Hunt. She was like, "Around Long Beach?" and I was left trying to explain that there is a game world that you can travel in... and um... the guild leaders were... at different points in the world.... yeah. I'm a tool.

You could NOT be more correct, Ingo. Yet another reason why you should rule the world.

Now Now sometimes you need to sit in front of the TV - how else could you play X-Box?

I'm just amazed that there are actual women who play WoW. I don't know a single person other than Zan who is currently playing. It must be nice to have a group of friends who all share the same hobby and hang out. That's why I envy you southerners! :)

That's kind of the argument, Gran. I try to be vague about WOW. I often just say "playing video games" which is a total distortion of the truth. I mean, it paints a much different picture than an MMO player. Though, the people who look at me with sympathy whenever I describe doing either are the same people who spend hours at work talking about LOST, American Idol, 24, etc. I'll be the first one to admit that effectively what I am doing with WOW is real chores for virtual money. But at least it's more interactive than just watching something.

It's really freaking sad. Whenever me, Aro, Ingomar, Linnaris, and Viraj hang out we talk mostly about warcraft! and then add in a couple of other local friends including Demetriana and we really DON'T talk about anything else!

You can thank the role-players for that one. The nerdy poor slobs who think by day they're a lowly data input processor, and by night they are Aknar, level 999 Warrior of the Underworld and Savior of the Mole people. That's a stereotype of an MMO player I think. That's what I used to think before I aktually started playing them. I just got into it to piss people like that off.lol

They don't see us for what we are. Degenerate beer drinking cheese & wench mongers. Most of us anyways.

Me and my alcoholic friends from Dominicide also just talk about WoW when we get together...though NOW it's like "Well who has more epixxx???" Shut. Up.
At least when we sit and game for hours, we can learn new things, right? We learned the term "meatflower" and decided just what a "poopsock" is. We show our cosmopolitan side by rattling off other languages. We learn that black people hate the Man. We learn that sometimes cats will eat hairspray. And WHAT are the American Idol watchers learning? That butchering old songs and singing like you're a stabbed hyena is something the public will worship you for? My life is not better for watching Justin Guarini and his fro ooze across the stage in white pants, thrusting ever-so-sutley towards Paula Abdul. No. My life is better for having met YOU guys. So let the fucking prime time tv vegetables have their worthless lives. I am Happy this way.
