There are lots of character crossovers, like Kirby as Simon from Castlevania.

Kirby is an adorable Belmont. I think that is what is going down, because one of the ghosts NEXT to Roy Koopa has Link's boomerang. Perhaps this is why Ganon is, instead of being bent upon world domination, ordering a delicious cheeseburger from the Burgertime guy.
