I know this topic has been bandied around before and it's always been discarded due to ridiculous queue times, but the cross-realm battlegrounds have really alleviated those tensions. A couple of us got together and joined as a group in AB and WSG and I think the most we had to wait was maaaaaaybe ten minutes, so I think this could be a really viable outing (and, with the addition of vent, we MIGHT ACTUALLY WIN SOMETIMES).

Is there still interest in this, now that we can actually make it happen? I'd love to work out some timing schedules, if so -- we can set aside brackets and get people together and SMITE THE UNWORTHY INTO OBLIVION. <3

If it is a later-in-the-week-thing then I am always available for such things.

While I enjoy AV with my druid, all others still annoy the fuck outta me but with a guild group it just might be fun.

I think this is an awesome idea but im confused with something that blizzard is doing. I read that once the expansion comes out then all the PvP rankings and stats are being wiped out and a new system is being put in.

Anyone have any info on this?

As I understand it, honor is becoming static like reputation, and then it can be spent like currency. If you want to rank up, you spend x honor. If you want to get such-and-thing item, you spend x honor. I THINK honor can be converted to rep, but that's just a rumor; I haven't read anything official.

I popped my BG cherry last night on Ysera. I took Penance (19 priest) in and holy shit is that addicting. I ended up with 290 HK by the end of the night. I think my teams won about 40% of the time. Lots of twinks out there ... bastards.

Anyway, I'm game!

I'm not big enough to play with you big boys (and gals) yet, but I'm totally interested!!

And for anyone who has a level 19 toon on Ysera, I'd be totally up for that as well.

I would like to play as well with guild mates. The pick up parties that you end up with are a bit rude to others and the raid. As some are new to playing the BG game and just trying to learn they get
a bad taste in their mouth from the BG and don't like to play. I think there is a post for tactics for AV somewhere on the forums. However I am not big enough for that play yet. What are some good tacs for AB or WS?

I pvp for at least a little bit every evening (helps me calm down); I'd be glad to help run these. I'm well versed in every BG, being exalted with all three of'em.

Unfortunately, we cannot do AV as a group because it does not allow for that option :(

Bwahaha, I nominate Aro to organize these on a weekly basis, since she brought it up :D

Monday nights would actually be a great night for this prior to the expansion. All this changes in the expansion, but right now there are more BG going on Monday nights than almost any other time because of last minute honor accumulation for Tuesday's promotions.

I am more than happy to set up some shiznit. <3 I just didn't for last night because it would have been super short notice. XD

Monday nights are mostly free on the calendar -- is that good for some folks? We can always get some stuff a-goin later in the week for those folks too busy on the first half, and I think the nicest thing about PVP groups is that people can come and go as they please, so we can accomodate earlybirds and latenights; WSG and AB are always reasonably short so you can hop in and out as necessary. <3

I wish we could do AV :(

You get a little too excitable in PVP for your own good, Deme :D But actually I wanted to ask if you wouldn't mind writing up BG strategies and suggestions for WSG and AB like you did for AV. I personally don't think there's any ONE required way to win (well, other than the obvious, like in AB where you should usually just hold 3/5 of the locations and not zerg all over the place OMG) but I'd love to hear your thoughts.

There isn't one way to do anything, but there are 'good' ways and 'better' ways, ie, a full on zerg rush IS a way to win AV, it's just not the BEST way -if- you want to maximize returns. The strategies I advocate are formed from hours and hours and hours and hours and ... hours ... of experience XD; I started out not knowing what to do in any of the battlegrounds and I think a lot of people here, who don't PvP much, are in the same boat I was back when BG were the new hotness.

I will probably write up infos for WSG and AB and then general pvp tips soon. From my standpoint, Warsong Gulch is the easiest battleground to win BUT the hardest battleground to master, meaning that ultimately AB is easier. The main problem is that WSG only permits 10 players whereas AB asks for 15, and for a really solid AB experience you kinda need 15 people.

But at the same time, there are plenty of times where I don't worry about winning and I just run around mowing people down. This can also be fun. It really just depends on your objectives in a battleground -- do you want to win, do you want to blow that tauren's freaking head off, or some combo of both?

For instance, I knew a lot of raiding priests who would respec/switch gear for PvP and they would focus on damage instead of healing--because they spend all their time healing in instances, they would rather melt faces in PvP. I honestly cannot fault them for that. But if you want to -win- in a BG, healers -have got to heal-, at least enough so that a given objective can be accomplished (keeping a node in AV, transferring a flag safely from Warsong Lumber Mill to Silverwing Hold, keeping up a tank on Drek'thar -- that kind of thing).
