Maybe it's the phase of the moon, maybe it's sunspots, I don't know. Whatever the cause, that dreaded topic -- can Victorious Secret raid? -- has reared it ugly and invulnerable head.

I'm not going to address our ability to raid. But I would like to address how we raid and why it will probably not be like what you expect.

VS is founded on the principal of openness. As long as you've got the right attitude, you can join us. Level 1 or level 60, resto or feral, avid forum reader or not, raider or PvP. We simply don't care.

What we try to provide our members is access to all aspects of the game, the game that they are paying for. Why should any of us be barred from any area of the game? Is our $15 not good enough?

With that in mind, everyone is welcome to join us on any of our raids. I'm not checking your gear. I'm not checking your spec. I just want you to see the content that you paid for.

Combine our open admissions policy with my open raiding policy and you'll end up with a lot of frustration. Sometimes all the elements will come together and we'll have a great raid. Sometimes the gears won't quite mesh and we'll have a setback. It's going to be erratic.

And I think that's fine. I'd rather introduce 80 of you to ZG than limit attendance to a 'hardcore' 20 and clear the place every week.

Our attempts will not be linear; we will not trip lightly down the flowchart of raid success: 'clear zg -> clear aq20 -> clear mc -> clear bwl -> profit'. Our progress will be a tangled mess, with maybe more arrows pointing backwards than forwards. But it will be progress that all can participate in.

For those that are looking for more regular raids, I've been trying to provide options. There are the MC and Ony pugs that I linked to earlier this week. There's the alliance we just made with <I need a life> that will give us access to more raids and a larger pool of players.

But if you're frustrated by our progress and want to leave, I ask you to remember why you (or at least I) joined VS in the first place -- its openness. We're trying to make sure everyone has a chance, that everyone gets to have fun.
