It's a short tour. But I'll be in Columbus, Ohio from February 6 - 9. Do we have any players in Columbus? I don't think so. But that's where I'll be.

My family is there. Jam and Viraj and I were there last week.

A native tip from me to you: do not wear blue any time you are in Columbus in public. Just, don't. Please trust me on this.

I was planning on bringing my Michigan gear. Because going to a college with no athletic scholarships (and one of the worst college football teams in history) has instilled in me a life-long love of the Michigan Wolverines.

Also, I have a shirt that says "Columbus needs some Urban Renewal" over a drawing of an alligator. I'm going to wear that a bunch.

I used to call Columbus home; I graduated from OSU in 2004. I was just there for a few days after the New Year, and it was fun. I go back as often as I can.

I'll forgive you your insulting behavior, but seriously- others wont. No shit, I wouldn't wear that crap anywhere in town. OSU is definitely the less polite, idiotic side of the OSU vs. UM rivalry.

But all the crap about the game and football aside, I love Columbus. Where are you staying and what are you doing? I'm familiar with most of the west and north side of the city and of course the campus and downtown areas. I can suggest all kinds of awesome places to go.

I'll be working, I won't be visiting much of anything.

But ya gotta eat, right? So many good restaurants in town.

What can I say, I'm a food-hound!

Yeah, but this is a conference. Most of my meals will be planned. I'm not sure how much free time I'll have.

I'll be staying at the Hilton. Downtown, I think.

If you are staying at the Hilton than you are probably at the Easton Town Center, which is not downtown. Its a rather new outdoor mall / commerce complex that is really kinda lacking in character, but its nice and convenient. Incidentally, Its also right next to the World Headquarters of Limited Brands, which includes Victoria's Secret. Look for the giant, scary looking black building in a walled off compound that looks like the NSA might do stuff there. Thats where they shoot much of their advertising and catalogues. If you are lucky you can run into the models shopping at Easton from time to time :)

Thats a really nice hotel. I stayed there once after a formal event downtown. If you are in the columbus convention center or whatever its called, literally right across the street (High St.) is a FANTASTIC place called Barley's. If you can manage only one meal outside the plan, go here. Great place to take people for business too. Great atmosphere, oustanding food, and great in-house brews. Rack of Lamb if they are offering it, and the crab cakes are great too. I LOVE that place. They used to have an extensive single malt scotch menu, but when I was just back there last week they weren't offering it, so that maybe has gone away.

Anyway, a great place and always my #1 destination when in town.

Gleja, I'm so disappointed in you.

You've never struck me as someone who did things halfway. If you want to get beaten to a pulp and assraped PROPERLY, then you should find some spiffy combination of blue and orange to wear while you're there! Make sure you're wearing an Gators shirt and a UM hat and I guarantee you that you'll find out just what prison bitches feel like ;)

Mmm. I disagree to some extent, Brendar (OSU class of 98 here, though I didn't finish it there). The less polite side TOWARD THE ENEMY, yes, that's correct (I was in Block O as a Freshman in '94 when someone three rows up -- IN BLOCK O -- decided it would be funny to put on a UM hat; they had to call security and a paramedic before the pregame even started, and fill up the Block with alternates). However, it goes both ways -- it's possible, still, to walk unmolested as a lone little middle-class white girl in the nastiest, rattiest parts of town if you're wearing the scarlet and gray. That fascinates me.

So where is the Columbus airport in relation to where I'm staying?

About half an hour's drive or so? It's better, now that I670 is finished, but the airport is waaaay out.

Gleja is no longer on tour. That FSU shirt was bought in vain (no, I didn't actually buy the shirt). Work decided that they were waisting my time. Hooray!
