I was playing happily this morning, then made the mistake of logging off to update my addons. When I logged back on, the game started downloading patch 2.0.5.

Upon installing the patch, I cannot log into the game...and neither can anyone else, from the look of the forums.

So. Be forewarned. If you had big playing plans today, they might not happenn.

Nope. Unable to validate game version is a different thing, I think. There's a blue sticky thread in the WoW forums specifically about that one. There hasn't been any kind of official response about the 2.0.5 login issue that I've seen.

hmmm ok...I will go check forums. I have never had this issue about unable to validate before so who knows. Why do they always do this!!!!

Getting the same unable to validate issue, and I can't get to any blizzard site due to everyone else in the world hammering their website at the same time. Guess I'll check it out tomorrow.

Wow, they're not doing so good trying to cram all these updates in before TBC... 2.0.4 broke a lot of things already including some major sound issues for some people, and now NO one can log in, that's not cool!

I was logged in before the patch and I did NOT disconnect to download it. I'm still in game now, and apparently they've taken the update down, so you can log in fine now if you havent already loaded the 2.0.5 patch.

Unable to validate game version.

They have a software/server that checks game version on PC. With this they can tell the game to patch or not. What probably happened is the Server will look for a Patch 2.0.5, but it's not install on the PC or it's corrupted. You will then get this message.

I heard from some people that the Patch this morning was corrupted, I will using the patch from yesterday, I did'nt get a patch message. My guess is that they remove the patch from being download as it was no good and now i getting that 'Unable to validate game version' problem.

They've also said (They being Tseric) that both 2.04 and 2.05 are being allowed to log in now, but that the problem with the 2.05 patch is that it requires BC to be installed (oops!). "We're working on it"
