Val, if you didn't want to come on the run tonight, all you had to do was say so.

I called Blizzard this morning and had my password reset, blah blah blah.
I won't know for sure if my stuff was actually sharded until I get home. If it was, I can request a restore which may take a few weeks.
JOY!
I need a sympathy hummer. Ben? Rin's mom? Tag team?

Sucks man, hopefully the damage is minimal. You think of any possible reasons for your password leak?

Wow, this really sucks. So if we ever find out where this tool lives are we all going to hop a flight to Korea and kick some ass? Not that we'll ever find the bastard. I just like imagining kicking his ass.

Sorry to hear that Val, I hope your toons still have all their gear. If not I can forward a bunch of potions you can drop on AH to make some cash.

Thanks guys. It'll be fine. If my stuff is sharded, I'll get a restore. It will just take a little bit.
I'm pretty sure I know what happened. A week ago or so I downloaded the new threat meter and atlas mods. Without paying much attenention to the file types, I downloaded two exes. When I ran them (stupidly) nothing happened (I was expecting winrar to open).
I run McAfee's scan, do some digging, blah blah blah. I'm coming up clean. It didn't seem right to me, so I look at some other stuff, find a process which shouldn't be running, clean that up and I think I'm good to go. I change my pw from my work PC and continue on my merrily-pimping way.
To keep this short, one or both of those files addes the mspass.exe trojan to my computer. McAfee didn't find it (I'm going to norton when I get home) until it actually accessed the internet, using Firefox to transfer my password somewhere. Then McAfee informed me. Fucking retarded program.
So, I did some more checking, found mspass.exe, removed it, cleaned my registry, blah blah blah. By the time I did that and tried to change my WoW password, it was already changed.

He got freaking lucky :) it looked like the person logged in once to pvp briefly (he was wearing different gear from his inventory from when he logged out), but by the time the bugger went to log back in he already had the password changed via Blizzard. So they got nothin!
