I got this from the official forum and blue responses don't deny that it's true.

So.... Sweet!

I'm not sure if this was posted elsewhere but I figured you'd want to know

From a blue post:

With the upcoming Black Temple patch, we will be introducing new features aimed directly at reducing the amount of repetitive and unwanted whispers, chat text, and mail. Our goal with these new features is to not only increase the ease of reporting spam, but also to automatically restrict it. Following the implementation of these features, we will continue to monitor for chat and mail abuse and take further action as needed.

Here are some of the new spam-prevention features going into the new patch.

Reporting abilities:

  • Players will now be able to report chat and mail spam with the click of a button. A "Report Spam" option will now be available by right-clicking on a player’s name in a chat channel, whisper, or mail. Using this option will quickly and easily report the player to our in-game support department for review.
  • When you report a player, he or she will automatically be added to your ignore list for your current session. You won't see any chat or mail from that player until you log out and back in.
  • These tools function on a per-account basis, meaning that reporting one character on an account will ignore all chat text and mail from that entire account until you log off.
  • You will not be able to report players on your friends list or in your guild.

Message throttling:

  • Players will no longer be able to send large amounts of text at one time, filling a chat screen with a repeating message, large blocks of gibberish, or text that could disrupt an entire conversation. This throttling, along with the new chat-reporting feature should make it much easier to keep unwanted text off your screen before it becomes overwhelming.

For the spamming, at least, I admit that SpamSentry has done a wonderful job of blocking. I put it in, upped the level blocking bit so that I no longer receive tells from level 1 players, and lo, I haven't received a single spam since.

Didn't know about that. I will have to try that. I get tells from lvl 1 and 2 so that would be nice

better get that bitch to level 3 then!

SpamSentry rules, In the past blizzard has taken awesome mod ideas and built them into the default UI, I hope they are using the same model.

The guild bank? eh... depends on how it is managed.

Built in voip! wooo!!! maybe. DDO did a horrible job of it.

I think it automatically allows stuff from guild members or friends, but I'll have to check. If not, then the vSex will just have to be done from Sapphyre only. Which is fine: she's much sexier than Ihavemail.

Yeah, the only reason I haven't added the level 1 block to my Spam Sentry is the bank alt thing. I know I've needed to send tells from my bank alt before.

I have mine set up to say some dude tried to send you a message.

If I recognize the name then I allow it. Some would argue that having it display even that defeats the purpose of spamsentry. I don't trust blanket blocks on spam, that's one of my love/hate situations with gmail.

It's still far less intrusive then 9 lines of crap in big pink letters.

Well, I know the Ruins of Lordaeron arena is true, so it stands to reason that the rest is also.

While I agree that Ihavemail is not very hawt... have you seen VSAlchemy? SHE IS HAWTER THAN HAWT. Sexy little human priestess in a flowy gown. ;)

repairing costs from the guild vault would be cool.

Not sure how much money is in the vaults currently, maybe suppliment it with the greens and stuff that drop during raids?

I really really really really hope Blizz adds in player housing at some point too, or at least Guild Houses, that would be so freaking awesome. It could be instanced from within the capital cities so it should be possible, but not likely anytime soon :D
