I got back from a trip to a volley of emails in my inbox. Some stated that my paid character transfers were complete and others were warnings and finally a suspension from WOW. I got hacked!!:mad: They moved Jacknsnap to another realm as well as one of my other characters and if I check the armory (can't log in because my account is suspended) most of my characters have been cleaned out! I imagine my low level bank characters have been as well since they had all the money. (There goes the epic mounts! *cry!) Well I have contacted a billing rep and sent up the forms to the appropriate department. Nothing to do now but wait for them to review my case. Just in time for vacation too...:mad:

There have been a few of those in the guild... I think everything has been restored for the others fairly quickly.

Any ideas on how the information was spread?

That totally blows, yeah from what i've read others weren't sure if it was a keylogger or addon. :(

That is TERRIBLE. I really hope this resolves itself. What do you suppose that person did to get your suspended?

Here is a quote from the email they sent me: This email is to inform you that you have been suspended from the World of Warcraft forums for a 1 week period for linking to cheats, hacks, Trojan horses, or malicious programs.

Looks like this guy was busy. All of this happened within a period of a few hours.

I'm pretty sure they'll help you out in a timely manner. At least everything I've heard from other people that had problems leads me to think that.

I've taken a couple precautions that may help others.


I changed my password on a work computer and then sent myself a text file with my password in the middle of the body of text.

When I log in to WoW I have the launcher automagically fill in the username and I cut and paste my password from the textfile.

Nothings 100% safe but this will definitely make it hard for keyloggers to get at your goods.

Looks like they were linking keylogger sites from your account on the WoW forums.

Sorry to hear about that Jack. I downloaded some add-ons that were infested with viruses that completely shut my computer down. Thankfully non of the sites we use (including WoW) were untouched 'cause as soon as I found out I disconnected the internet line & Virus scanned out the wazoo until it got straightened out. Now I don't use ANY add-ons and I just deal with it.

If there's anything I can help you with in-game after you get everything straightened out let me know.

Generally, they're extremely helpful. It does take time. What I've seen is that if people who have been hacked are reasonable and try to work with Blizzard, be patient, etc. then usually they have everything restored to them (though in the past, this could not include enchants on items). On the flipside, I know people who almost certainly screamed and threw a tantrem at Blizzard and they to my knowledge never did get anything back. I'm sure Jack will be fine, but otherwise, we're here to help, just let us know what they say!

well my account is no longer suspended. Logged in to view the damage. I was almost completely raped. Most of my characters have been stripped and all the money is gone. Still waiting to hear from Blizzard.
