This has no spoilers... I want to read the book too.

Keep that in mind if you decide to reply to this message.

This link has funny fake covers you can put on your Potter book to be able to read it in public.

There may be references to the other books in them but if you've read them all up to this point then the link is as far as I can tell, completely safe.

I totally have no shame and will be reading it not only in public, but around my redneck family, WITHOUT FEAR.

I can outrun them all and climb a tree, whereas none of them can do either.

We were a little late in getting on the reservation list at the library. We're number 140 & they're only getting 120 copies. So my plans to read it this weekend may be dashed. Dammit.

Is it sad that I (the annoying teentard) seem to be the only one in the guild that absolutely hates the "Harry Potter" franchise?

While I don't hate Harry Potter (I own the first three movies), I don't really understand the fascination either. I have not read any of the books though, so maybe my opinion would change if I did. I am not sure I would ever pre-order a book, or line up at the local Chapters to buy one, though. This series or any other.

What a great image of Ing being chased up a tree by rednecks. If I could paint a picture...

... you wouldn't have to be in the army.

Edit: I typed this out late one night after some of the sauce. Upon rereading its not nearly as funny as I thought it was then and hopefully doesn't offend anyone. I was just keeding.

Step 1: Check out "We Were Soldiers Once, And Young" from the base library.

Step 2: Remove plastic cover, disassemble and replace with print-outs.

Step 3: Read Harry Potter in the office, while simultaneously impressing your colleagues.

I read through this a lot faster than anticipated: tomorrow is Step 4: Return "We Were Soldiers" to the Library with its new and improved cover.

I've read the books...seen the movies...and while I don't dislike the Harry Potter franchise, I never thought it was a Huge Deal.

But I've seen Harry Potter naked and I approve.

The thing about the Harry Potter series is... they're typical British school stories, like unto PG Wodehouse's Mike series, or Roald Dahl's Boy or Rudyard Kipling's stories about Stalky.

The only real difference is that instead of cricket bats, they're waving around wands, and instead of mocking the kid from middle-of-nowhere, Cornwall, they're fighting to the death about purebloods versus mudbloods.

Also, the food at Hogwarts is apparently a lot better than at Wrykyn or Eton.

I have to admit, I inhale sharply during the movies when they have their feasts. Omg. It's food porn.

The book was released while we were stranded in the wilderness so the day we got back we went and got both the book and the audio version on CD - we listened (as a family) to it for 2 and a half days straight and it was fantastic! ;-)

I devoured it at the cottage and then didn't know what to do with myself for the last 3 days of the trip :P

It was great :)

Dude, now I need to read Memoirs of a Shark Fucker. I need to!

Agnes: today I made a rich ancho chocolate cake with raspberry filling and a chocolate raspberry whipped cream frosting. Just for kicks. You want food porn, woman, hang out with me.
