After my disconnect and lock-up fiesta yesterday, I spent several hours bringing out the proverbial (and very nearly real) hammer on my computer.
I still can't get the thing to complete the start-up process without locking up, much less get to the point where I can start diagnosing anything software side- so I'm in the midst of a complete dismantle, rebuild, wipe and resinstall.
Hopefully I'll have this back up later tonight or tomorrow (Friday). I'm off work Friday so I'll be working on it all day.
Sorry about the run. Again. ><

And on another note I FINALLY recieved my new power supply today! Except the packing inside the shipping box, wrapped in plastic wrap, was soaked. The power supply itself seemed to be dry; I let it sit for about 6 hours in the sun on the window sill, plugged it in, and got treated to a nice little fireworks display. Fucking hosers. At least they've agreed to send me a replacement, but that'll be another three weeks. MOTHER-FUCK.
I've about had it with computers lately. I swear I'm going to forego society and live in a cave.

If anyone knows anything about configuring a new SATA RAID array, please let me know.

What exactly is the problem? For mine i had to go into the bois and turn on the raid, then while it was booting it asked me if I wanted to configure the drives in a raid setup. After that right after the window xp disk starts to boot in it will say to hit f6 to install raid/3rd party drivers. something like that. You will need the drivers on a floppy disk. A usb floppy will not work :(. After that xp should see the disks and install xp. is that the problem you are having or something else? I am on chat if you want to come in.

So I think I've fixed my RAID problem, but that didn't really have anything to do with my crashes. I moved my computer to another room on another circuit and I've been up and stable for about 8 hours now.
If anyone can find a UPS that takes input from 110-220V, let me know. I think that'll just about do it.

Sorry about the chat. I got distracted at work. I couldn't get my raid to work with windows xp because there was a documented problem with my nvidia chipset and windows xp. I had to upgrade to Vista. Good to hear you have it working.

Bren,
don't forget that the ups has to be happy with 50~ as well... but most are. I've just checked 3 of mine, and all of them are switchable. I strongly recommend just about anythng from APC. Just pick the size that you need....bigger is better.

It wanted to post on this, I do not consider my self old, and I did not cause Brendar's power supply to be wet.

Prove it! It's all your fault!
One of my favourite sayings comes from "Raiders of the Lost Ark".
"It's not the age; it's the mileage, baby".
Whereas my body must be about 700 years old.

I had no relations what so ever with Brendar's power supply.
The rumors can stop now!
