We currently have the "Image Hosting" section on the site but it's not really a gallery like we once had before. I have a Photo Post license so if I were to drop it into the site, would more people share screens? The pics section we have now doesn't get much use but I'm wondering if it's only because it's kinda crappy. Photo Post will allow captions, comments, ratings and all that jazz. Thoughts?

I would definitely use it more.
As it is right now you have to tell people to look at the photos you've linked instead of just seeing the new ones people have posted.

Anyone else?

If I even knew how to get the screenshots I have, I'd probably love something like that. I know they're in a folder in the WoW folder, but anytime I try I can't seem to pull them out and look at them.

I have never been able to find my screen shots :(. This would be pretty cool to have.

Try c:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Screenshots\.
They recently (2.02, maybe?) changed the default screenshot type from .TGA (high-quality, very pretty, requires additional software to open/edit/use) to .JPG (crappier quality, any PC/Mac can open from stock). If you haven't checked lately, I bet you can get to them now.

Aha, that's right, and my tech godly friend had once upon a time told me how to get them out, but of course, it took more than one or two clickies, so I forgot LoL. They were very pretty when I had gotten to them, but .jpg doesn't make my noggin hurt. I'm a big tech baby :P
Photo Post is now online and can be accessed through "Screenshots" in the "Navigation" menu. I'm still toying around with the layout so expect some little changes here and there but please go ahead and start uploading pics.
The "Image Shack" will be going away in a couple of days so if you have any screens in there you'd like to move, hop to it. =)

If there was a simple upload/viewing module for screen shots, I'd use it. I tried using the imageshack module we have yesterday, but with no luck. I just assumed it was because I'm still a Jr Member.
We may want to set some standards on resolution and filesize though. I run WoW at 1650x1080, but I'm sure others use different ones. At my resolution the average size of the jpgs are around 900k. Not a huge size by itself, but if that and multipe others are downloaded many times a month, we'll possibly have a large bandwidth bill.

I've got a ton of screenshots and I would definatly be up to sharing them. Be warned though: many of my screens are of you guys (or me, but mostly you guys) saying funny or weird stuff. If something in chat tickles my fancy I take a screenshot of it.
Anyway, I'd love to be able to share them with you!

Hehe! Raps, I have that avatar! I use it in MSN all the time when people at work are pissing me off.

It is a damn funny avatar, and puts the message across rather well. I'll probably change my avatar randomly as the mood strikes me.
I can only imagine that's how the Kara group felt last night when they couldn't get back in after the disconnect.

Is the screenshot area close to the bikini area? When I was in kindergarten, I got in trouble for touching my... nevermind

Gee, that reminds me of a funny story...at least in my warped mind...when my younger daughter was in kindergarten, we had a problem with her, um, entertaining herself in an inappropriate manner in her cot during naptime. Her teacher was very good about it, as this is actually pretty common at that age. When this had happened in prior years, the teacher would give the kid a book as a distracting activity. However, she gave up on that because one year, the kid in question (not mine!) just used the book as a prop.
Wow.

The Image Shack we used kinda sucked as it was just a quick thing I threw up. The new photo post is much cooler and very easy to use.
All screens get resized to 1024w on upload though the original will remain avail to view. You're each limited to 25mb of image space and with a 5 TB bandwidth limit per month, I think we'll be okay. ;)

I just changed my screenshot format back to .tga. The quality is better. If anyone else is interested in doing this open your config file and add this line: SET screenshotFormat "tga"
Thanks to Twistle for finding this on the WoW forums!

Yeah the config file is great. You can also put in this line:
SET startinglevel "70"
SET startinglevel "70"

startingLevel, Torrin. It's case-sensitive.

You're not the first person to advise him on sensitivity.
Just to mention, you can rate other people's screenshots and make comments on them that'll show up at the bottom of the page -- for those that are bored.
