I've got mining and skinning maxed out. Mining makes me great money, but skinning is so/so. I've been thinking of taking up a crafting profession. I'd like one that has BoP items useful for a rogue, but also BoE items I can make profit on.

We have a lot of crafters in every profession... but I haven't seen many engineers. Anyone have experience with engineering?

Any suggestions on a crafting profession to take up? Should I just stick with mining / skinning and get things I need made from the guild?

Engineering is mostly useless, very expensive, very hard to level at certain points, and has just about nothing you can sell.

That being said, it has a few nice little trinkets (loved my blast-o-ray or whatever it was, the transporters, and of course, my tankatronic goggles). Also, I take a certain amount of quixotic pride in having levelled engineering and accquired so many schematics, even though its rare and suprising occurance when I get a request for anything from anyone.

Mining is nearly essential as a companion skill, unless you have unlimited money.

I had an alt with 300 engineering back in the day, but I never got her higher than that. I loved the transporters. It was just so nice having an extra "hearthstone." Also engineering gives you more changes to scream OH MY GOD, THE GOGGLES THEY DO NOTHING!
