Well I guess I won't be playing nearly as much for a while. My video card bit it last night and I have had to resort to an old one I still had laying around. As a result, I get amazing framerates of 3fps while standing still looking at a wall with the graphics turned as low as they will go. I just thought I would let you guys know why I am not around as much. Might try putting WoW on my work laptop even though I am not supposed to. It might run a little better than what I have here. :)

Well I appear to have halfways solved my video issues for now. I can limp it along at least until I can afford a new computer :) (err if I can :) )

nvidia geforce has dropped in price quite a bit recently.

I'm still rockin my 7800 with no problems at all.

Now I remember why I switched to linux. My current video card (the one I was forced to downgrade to) is an FX5200. Unfortunately, with all the patches, that card only gives me about 3fps in linux. In Windows, my framerate is better.... while it works. It will randomly be unable to render the ground, show empty space with floating trees where the ground should be and drop my framerate to about 1fps. This is the same problem I have had in the past while running the game in Windows. :( If anyone knows a specific fix for this I am all ears! Reloading my interface doesnt even help, I have to log out and back in. Oh well.... I guess my presence will remain kinda random for a while yet.

That usually indicates that you're reaching the limits of the card... the only big performance fix I could give would be to start disabling stuff and lowering textures.

Since it's an nvidia, maybe running WoW with the -openGL flag might give it a boost. I know when I was running it under linux I got a huge performance boost by forcing it to use opengl.
