Instance Loot Rules:
Group looting is usually in use.
BoE items:
Click need if an item is an upgrade, otherwise click greed (or pass). BoE Rares or Epics: If no one can use it is up to group whether they should be rolled on for greed purposes, offered on /g, or sent to the Guild Bank.
BoP items:
Pass initially on an item. People should first roll on it if it is an upgrade. If you have already won an upgrade, it is generally expected of you to pass on future upgrades unless no one else can use it. If it is not an upgrade for anyone, everyone can roll on it to vendor it. If there is an enchanter on the run that is willing to d/e the item, then the shards should be saved until the end of the run and anyone who did not get an upgrade should roll on them.

Raid Loot Rules:
Master looter will be used. Loot count is reset at the start of each night even if it is a continuation of a raid from a previous night.
BoE Greens:
Will be sent out to guildies after the run if they did not get an upgrade or a shard. As an alternative to this the RL can decide to switch the loot threshold to Rare. In this case, if you see a green on a mob, it's yours.
BoP Blues:
Anyone can roll on it if it is an upgrade. People who have already received an upgrade will be expected to pass unless no one else wants the item.
Epics (including tier set peices):
First round of rolls: Anyone that can use the item to upgrade their "Primary Role" set and that has not already won an item on the raid may roll in the first round.
Second round of rolls: Anyone that can use the item to upgrade their "Primary Role" set that has already won one item or more on the raid. (However, if you have received several items, please pass to someone who has only gotten one or who can use it as an off-spec.)
Third round of rolls: Anyone that can use the item to upgrade for their dual-spec set. This applies to people who often raid in different specs.
Fourth round of rolls: Anyone else that can use the item for an offset (such as PVP or possible future offset or iLevel set).
DUAL SPEC CHANGES TO LOOT:
This may seem overly restrictive but it should be in order to make it fair for people that don't chose to use dual spec. If someone wants to be a resto druid and only a resto druid, they should get preference over a druid that has finished their tanking set and now just wants to roll on resto gear because he can.
* Everyone still has one primary Spec.
* If you would like your primary spec (and therefore preference for that spec over other people's offspec) to be something other than the spec you will be performing on the posted raid list, you must tell the raid leader BEFORE THE RAID STARTS.
* In order to be eligible for rolling primary spec in a role you are not currently performing in the raid you must meet all of the following requirements:
- You have purchased and set up the dual spec with appropriate glyphs
- You have a complete set of gear for it - or enough to suitably perform that role in a 5 man heroic
- You have run at least five heroic 5 mans in that role (whether it be before or after 3.1 was introduced)
* If you can meet these requirements you may decide to roll primary spec on a set that is not your current spec. For example: A resto shaman can roll for primary spec on healer gear if they had to come to the raid as enhancement.
* Other than this the rules remain unchanged. There will be three sets of rolls:
- Primary spec, if you have not recieved a drop on this run
- Primary spec, if you have recieved a drop on this run
- Offset (This includes people who have decided to make another set their primary)
If there is no interest for the item, then it will be sharded and shards will be rolled on at the end of the run. Those that have not received any kind of upgrade during the raid will get first roll on shards. Leftover shards will be rolled on by everyone, whether or not they have won an upgrade during the raid.
Tier tokens count the same as normal BoP epics. The raid leader will attempt to make the most desirable item the first one rolled on -- especially in the case of Tier tokens. If one item is more desirable than another but both would be upgrades, a raid member is welcome to suggest to the raid leader which to roll on first.
If there is an item that you are hoping for that drops from a later boss and something else you want drops first, you are welcome to pass in the hopes of getting the later drop. However, should that other item drop later, you will not get any special treatment for passing on the previous item. Everyone wants to get upgrades in there and no one should be made to feel guilty for wanting to roll on something they can use. Also... Do not expect an item to be defaulted to you simply because no one else can use it. If you aren't willing to have an item count as your "Primary Role" upgrade, a Raid Leader may decide to shard the item to avoid loot situations with future rolls.
In order to be considerate to others, if you win an item that others rolled on, we ask that you do not enchant the item until the end of the raid so that it does not become bound to you. That way, if something else drops later on that is only good for you, then you can pass the first item to someone else who has not received any loot that run. This should especially apply to items that you are rolling on that are of a lower armour type than yours (i.e. a plate wearer who wins a leather item).
VS is full of some really great people and many times these drops are decided by "No, you take it." However if the item is something that is of benifit to you, you are entitled to roll on it. (Even if Wow-Loot lists your class as a secondary or tertiary.)
If there is any question as to the fairness of loot distribution, the RL gets to make the final call. If you are being a loot whore, the RL is free to call you on this and award the item to someone else. If you disagree with the decision made by a RL, please feel free to raise the issue with a Producer or Director. It might be too late to undo something for that run, but we can at least tweak the rules so it doesn't happen again.

Hey all! After much consideration, the officers have all collaborated to come up with more defined loot rules. If you have any questions, please let any one of us know.

Bumping this post so any newer folk will know what to expect from raid loot rolls :)
We've tweaked the loot rules (see blue text)... stay tuned for further clarification re: dual-specs. We're working on the wording and will update here before the patch.

We have adjusted the loot rules to reflect the new Dual Spec system (green section). These changes are made in order to make loot as fair for everyone as possible.... that being said there are likely to be some unforseen issues that develop from having more complicated rules.
We will be paying attention to looting closely in the next couple raids to make sure that the system seems to be working. If you feel this isn't working because of something we didn't consider please PM one of the officers or discuss it with them in whispers and we'll figure out if we need to amend the rules again.

And another bump!
After some discussions with guildies we have tweaked the loot rules once again. We want to make sure that loot goes to a toon that will use the item immediately before it goes into someone's bank for possible future use. For example, if people are rolling on the off-spec roll and the item is a healing piece, we would like to see it go to someone who regularly goes into healing spec rather than someone who has never healed. In order to accomplish this, we have added a third roll that will hopefully make things a little more fair. See pink text added above.
As always, we encourage everyone to come to the officers with questions or concerns regarding anything.

Because we can now pass loot for 2 hours after it drops, we have made a small amendment to the rules. SEE THE NEW PINK TEXT IN THE FIRST POST ABOVE.
