I am not a fan of American college football, seeing as how I am Canadian and football isn't hockey. But one thing I love is an excellent half time show, specifically with marching bands.

And this one just won the internet. My geekrection is throbbing.

The trumpets couldn't hit the high notes for Zelda. That makes me sad. WHERE IS YOUR SENSE OF PROFESSIONALISM, GENTLEMEN?

Don't watch many marching bands, huh? I'll wait for Bren to show up and get all TBDBITL on you. XD

I think it was because they were all marching around and the high note playahs weren't facing the mics.

You can hear it much better on this one.

If they were doing more than marching in straight lines, I might be vaguely more impressed with their coordination.

But.

Dude.

You've never seen a drum corps, have you?

Being a band geek in high school, we got to watch DCI every year when it came to town. My section leader was in the Cavaliers. Good times. Those men and women are fantstic.

I love watching the DCI stuff. They came here last year, but The Don and the kids went w/o me. I was on a trip.

In college, I was in the NSU marching band and had many many friends in the Cavaliers and Phatom Regiment... I, unfortunately, couldn't afford it. :(

...and btw, I'm a total Blue Devils fanboi!

I wasn't in a college band but was all through school. From 9-12th grade we only had 3 trumpets, you'd never notice it though. I was one of the trumpets (brass represent, yo!) and our Jazz band of 14 members won many honors and beat the crap out of schools much larger than ours.

We even got invited to play in disneyland! DIDNEELAAAAAN

The Blue Devils show the year I marched was badass. Their colorguard did really hard work with flags that weren't aerodynamic at all, and they were flawless.

My original plan to march with Crown for five years, which would have put me in the corps when they broke into the top 12 from being at the top of the smaller division corps, was foiled by getting mono right at the end of the first season and not being well enough to do it the next season.

Mad props to our 'Band Geeks' , those guys worked harder than we did.

I didn't think I'd find a video. Its not very good, but hey- this is what *I* did while the band was doing its thing.

Drum corps was so hard I still dream about it, and I marched more than 15 years ago.

I personally prefer this over the videogame show.

It really is amazing how much the band teachers have to do with what goes on in stuff like this. Mine was pretty cool but we were playing shit from his (and our parents I guess) times. Now that people my age are in these positions we get to see stuff like this.

The kids playing these songs probably think they are totally lame and whine all the time.

I dig it though. I didn't read through all the posts on this thread but there is a video of the stands during a korean (i think) soccer match that is pretty amazing. I will see if I can get the link.
