Nothing says, "Hi, I am a GIANT DORK," than pulling that out during a jaunt to the trendy bistro, school, or a business meeting.
Sigh...I kinda miss the days when your affiliation with an MMO was kind of a secret thing that you didn't advertise to the world about.

And on that note, Dalwin closes down the browser before giving Dell his credit card information....

It's comparable to a top Alienware system in terms of price. All things being equal... I'd go with Alienware over Dell any day. Twice on Sundays.

Ummm
Well ain't that aboutabitch. Guess I should try to keep up on almost two year old news. Thanks for letting me know.
I'll continue to buy the high end Sager Notebooks when I need a new one. I refuse to buy Dell, and now Alienware.

Dell is leaps and bounds better than it used to be and now with the alienware guys doing the XPS stuff you can get a really nice rig for a somewhat decent price.
I just buy HP stuff anymore... all my stuff at work is HP and it just kinda crossed over into the new machines I bought recently.

My dad, who worked for HP for 19 years and HATES them, just rolled over in his grave.
....
Wait, he's not dead yet. But he totally would have rolled, if he were.

well... the stuff I use at work are their server editions.
different horse, same beating... I guess. Their support is pretty good for them.
As for desktop machines, the price is good for the quality.

seems like it was not that long ago that you could build yourself a descent gaming desktop using parts from newegg for around 1200.00. Now that the industry is aware of the growing force gamers have become they charge more for video cards etc. Its like boats, you need a simple part for a boat you pay twice is much for it simple because its a boat part. The same part for a truck or something is 1/2 the cost.

Funny this should be brought up, I just started a new job at Dell, and I used to work for them a year or two ago. I can tell you honestly and from personal experience that they've gotten way way better in both product quality and customer service since buying out Alienware.
We got to play with the WoW Laptop at work today. It's fucking sick. We always get the top of the line models for our lab, and the one we had had two solid state drives in a RAID 0 config. Sure it's $1950 extra, but Windows boots in about 5 seconds, Wow is up almost instantly.
The case is really sleek, you can't tell but the alliance logos glow blue when the system is on, the horde ones glow red.
Oh, and there's a little LCD screen above the keyboard that keeps track of user-configurable info, like exp, gold, quests, anything.
Oh, and the M1730 comes with an AGEIA PhysX chip.
DADDY WANT.

OK, I want one too...
I'll tell you what, I don't even care if people know I play WoW... I mean if they see a computer they ussually ask what I'm doing and ussually the answer is, "playing WoW..." or "looking up something for WoW..." or "looking at my WoW guild forum..."
Now, I can totally go with not wanting to pull it out at the business meeting, but that's what the work issued laptop is for, lol.

haha, me too... I think I'll just have to give up eating
that should be easy to explain to the wife:
Yeah, Arachne, we can't afford groceries this week, but look at how awesome WoW looks on this new laptop!

I can justify $2k-$3k on a computer... but not $4k-$8k.
For that kind of money they better also include an account with a L70 of each character class, with full T6 epics. And a customer selected hooker with a one year supply of booze, blow, and bud.
Don't get me wrong... if someone handed me one of these and said, "here you go... free of charge" I'd surely use it. I really don't care if people know I play WoW... they already know (personal and at the office). Hell... I talk WoW all day with one of the guys in hardware support. The president of our North American Operations even has a L70 on a different PvE server. (I find this funny cause he's a no nonsense former British SAS guy in his late 50s).
