I used to be able to hold my own, but lately my maintenance and upgrade costs have outpaced my ability to farm gold to cover the costs- How do YOU do it?

I know a lot of us are poor, but some of you seem to run around with endless amount of cash. Besides trading $$ for G to the Chinese, what do you do?

If you have some successful strategies for making in game cash, please share.

I don't had loads of money because I just bought my epic flying for Hecktigol. Couldn't handle having it on one and not the other. I got most of the money by going to blades edge in the Death's door area. Those guys down there are easy to kill and they respawn fast. They drop Silver, Mark of Sargeras, Fel Armament, and lots of Netherweave Cloth. I was using the drops to lvl my aldor rep and selling all the Netherweave Cloth. Also towards the end I was killing the 71 elite Talonsworn Forest-Rager in skettis. If you are a herbalist you can skin those trees and get lots of mats. While I was doing that Primal Life was selling for a lot. (and yes I did send some stuff to the bank while doing this :) )

Also having two 70s help since you can do twice as many daily quests. After leveling two 70s I got so many random drops that I DE them on my priest and sell the mats. The mats sell so much better then random drops.

edit: If you stand in SW you can have people run you through The Stockade, lol

I just do dailies, trying to avoid the ones that are too irritating. For me, a normal cycle is:

Bomb Skettis - 12g
Bomb Demons - 12g
Wrangle Rays - 12g
Apexis Game - 9g
Cooking - 8g
Booterang - 12g

Total - 63g

If I'm shadow, or I have more free time, I do a few more quests

Banish Demons - 12g
Kill legion guys in Nagrand - 12g
Get crates from the mine - 19g
Kill flayers - 12g

Total - 55g

---

If I do everything, that's 118g per day. If I just do the quick stuff, that's 63. My expenses for a normal kara run are about 60g-70g (flask, repairs, reagents, etc.). So two or three days of dailies pay for a whole week's worth of Kara.

A little extra money comes from my mage alt, an alchemist with transmute spec. He makes primal might every day. If the transume procs extra mights, that's pure profit. If not, I break even.

Good stuff in the articles and comments, but it sort of confirmed my fear- it seems I just need to find the energy to do the dailies EVERY DAY along with my mining. There was a point a few months ago where I was up to almost 3000g that way, but I just couldn't take it anymore.

Does anyone play the AH? Another guy that works in my building was talking about how he makes a lot of money buying up greens high-volume low-value and reselling usually after DEing. Is it worth it to level up my enchanter alt? He is currently a level 12 i think :( That seems like it would sap me with up-front costs at the risk of payoff that may or may not be there.

Does anyone play the AH?

I do. But usually only on blues or level 30-55 greens. Auctioneer is a must for anyone wanting to do this. I just search for items that I can make at least 50% profit on (from buyout price).

For example, I got a nice L69 blue axe drop. Auctioneer said it was worth 65g. I went to AH and saw two for 40g and two for 65-70g. I bought out the two for 40g and waited for the others to be gone. Then listed them one at a time for 65 gold. Ended up making 110g off that in 2 days time.

If you have a lot of greens you want to DE just send them to my alt Bobfromhr. He can DE them for you and send them back.

Ever since the patch I have been playing my lock alt and he has actually been able to receiving enough gold from the quests and grays that drop that I haven't had to send him any. The patch made a nice improvement.

Like Gleja said doing Dailies even if it just the quick and easy ones, bombing, colour game, cooking is normally pretty fast if you have a lot of the material already 30 min a day, it adds up.

Farming stuff people need is a good way to make money as well

Motes of Mana, Aldor and Scryer drops, disenchant the greens and sell the mats

Playing the AH requires vigilance and persistence, and auctioneer is a must and you must keep your list updated and sometimes flush it and restart it as prices change.

You have to scan the AH a fair amount as normally the items that are underprices do not stay up for long.

Remeber that you have a deposit each time you put it up which on high level items can be pretty pricey, if your items don't see you could end up losing money if your profit margin is too low.

That should get you more money than you need and not take a large amount of time but be prepared to devote sometime to it.

One thing to be careful when using auctioneer: People know how to manipulate it, it is not a magic thinking box. GIGO applies here so make sure you watch trends and get to know what sells. Farmers with an overabundance of an item will artificially inflate prices over a week and I’m talking about 100 accounts will post said item and 5x its normal rate. Auctioneer uses a 1-week trend to give you an average price and this will greatly inflate the rate. At the end of that week the farmers will start to dump their product on the AH at the old prices but auctioneer will show them as "bargains".

I really am not trolling here but things like having to farm for runs and rep grinds are what I do not miss about wow. I have a full time job thank you very much :)

Here's a new way:

Save all your apexis shards. Go to Ogri'la & buy up all the crystal mana potions you can. They cost 50 shards and 30 silver. Then sell them to a merchant for 1g 15 silver each. Profit!

If you end up with Apexis Crystals to spare you can buy the epics and disenchant them. I got 2 Void Crystals last time I did that.

I speculate on the AH and have made about 600 gp so far this week as an example; but it does demand a couple hours split up over a day total time. I am sure that there is much more to be made, but I am somewhat conservative with what items that I deal in.

Auctioneer is a definite, but is very manipulatable and can really screw up prices for those who batch post; I think that small glowing shards are still showing up well over 200gp per...which inflates each item that can be DE'd into small glowing shards, etc.

In the past I did a fair amount of speculation on the AH, but like anything else it began to be tedious, and the competition is fierce.

I have a gold threshold I like to maintain, and if I drop below that you'll see me doing dailies for a few days. If you have an epic mount, it makes them quite a bit easier. Dailies aren't really the best way if you think gold/hr, but they are a steady reliable source of income.

Personally, my favorite dailies are the netherwing mines and I occasionally do the skettis bombing run on my way there. I rarely do the BE dailies. I've got both toons exalted with all daily factions, so I am somewhat burned out on them and only do them if necessary.
