My Enchanting is at 204. Now I like the money I make from shards and I like that I can enchant my own gear but I think tailoring might be more useful. Is it worth it for the gear? Or should I keep my "painfully hard to level but kinda worth it" enchanting?

Everything is hard to level... except gathering professions. I guess the better question would be how bad you want the BoP epics you can make from tailoring versus the work of leveling it up and loosing the work you've done with chanting.

In general, I would say enchanting is only worth it when running an instance and you're the only enchanter who can disenchant the trash. That's rare. The rest of the time...hey, man, you're in a stable guild with several excellent enchanters who can either do enchants or disenchant stuff.

At high levels, tailoring gives you BoP sets that are near-impossible to beat (for instance, the Primal Mooncloth set is pretty much the best healer gear there is before the Absolution set). If you're a caster, it's hard to not be a tailor.

Thank ya'll very much for your advice. I appreciate it. Think I will go into tailoring since I'll have more use for it.

If you enjoy crafting at all, I would consider holding onto enchanting and trading your skinning to tailoring.

Tailoring is great for cloth wearers but you're really gonna love being able to disenchant stuff you upgrade past. You'll also appreciate being able to disenchant all the stuff you make to level up your tailoring skill.

If you're just in it for the money, then by all means stick with skinning... but if you like making things (like I do), take em both.
