Good stuff on why overhealing isn't such a bad thing anymore.

Thanks for posting that. I'd intended to pass around amongst the healers.

I think that, other than her weird "spot checks", she's basically right on here. I've been watching OH numbers for the past month or so. We're mostly sitting right around 20%, and our fights our going great.

As I've said before, only worry about overhealing if you run out of mana & your healing target dies. Other than that, it's not a stat to start stroking your epeen over.

Aye, I would say overhealing is only an issue, when you're running out of mana. I find overhealing on the shaman pretty easy to come by since chain heal likes to jump to any missing hit points. I only pay attention to overhealing if I am running out of mana before the fight is over. Then I would look into downranking spells.

Also, like the comments pointed out. Paladins do NOT receive mana from overhealing.

We had a huge debate on this in my last guild, and I'm not going to wade too far in here. The big thing to remember is that each of the healing classes have very different mechanics for healing, and some are very prone to over-healing while some are not.

Paladins for instance almost always top the over healing charts (and healing ;-) ). I *never* look at over-healing for Jorack as it is pointless. When my crit rates can pass 30% with raid buffs, over-heals just happen and they really have no relevance on my mana pool in most cases.

Well overhealing is going to happen on certain fights, but healing coordination is still important. I cringe constantly when I do a single lifetap with Khros for about 1200 health only to see 4-5 heals for 2-4K each land over the next 5 seconds. I always expect the tank to die at that point...
