I play WoW on a Mac, and I'm currently using the so-called Mighty Mouse that comes with it. I like the mouse for non-gaming uses, but it leaves a bit to be desired for WoW. In particular, I find that, at least with my touch, right clicks sometimes get read as left clicks, and vice versa. I'm also thinking some more programmable buttons would be nice, and I'd love a wireless mouse.

So...

If any of you have mice that you really like, I'd like to hear about it. I was looking at a few Logitech and Razer models, and the Logitech G7 seemed like it might be a good choice. The Razers look cool but none are wireless. Wireless isn't a dealbreaker; if there's a corded mouse that's really good, I'd certainly consider it.

Thanks for any info you can pass my way!

I use a trackball, myself. But I've found logitechs to be generally ok. The downside is that they install this stupid mouse management software that was screwing up some OS upgrades.

Kensington stuff is also good, and doesn't have the software problem.

Somehow I should have known you for a trackball type. My dad uses one too.

Honestly, I've tried fancy-schmancy programmable mouses (mice?) and found I was just as happy with the beat up old standard 2 button+wheel dell mouse I have now.

I have the Logitech MX 510 Performance Optical Gaming Mouse in Blue. I have had it for a while and love it. I never install the software and it works fine. Not sure if that is a PC vs Mac thing or not.

I recently picked up Logitech's MX Revolution and I love it. It doesn't have a lot in the way of programmable buttons though so it may not be what you're looking for. I'm pretty sure it works with Macs.

One thing I would recommend though if you go wireless. Get one that has a recharging base like the Revolution. I used to go through batteries like crazy on my old one.

I also have a mac

I started using a Logitech mouse too (which I don't remember). It was not one of the high end ones (mine was around 30 or 40 bucks I think) and It's been much better than the "Mighty Mouse" :P

EDIT:
Ok I looked it up. I'm about 100% sure I have the MX™400 Performance Laser Mouse:

Both my wife and I use it and it's been a big improvement over the dumb ol "Mighty Mouse". No install was needed either ... just plug and play

I use the Logitech G5... and love it. It even comes with it's own weighting system to customize it. A custom weighting system... WTF.

Just my $0.02.

I used the logitech trackman wheel. I normally avoid cordless, at some point it will run out of juice, need to be charged or need batteries or have trouble connecting to the PC for a sec or two and I just don't have patinece for that from my mouse.

I don't really need cordless since it is a trackman and I don't need to move it around to use it, the cord never bothers me, but I am a bit old school I guess.

I just bought an MX Revolution, and I love it!
It was on sale for $80 at Best Buy and if you have an CompUSA around that still has one you may be able to get it at a good discount.

Downside: If you travel, remember to take the charger...
I'm currently on the road and the charger is not... And I didn't think to bring the corded one as a backup... so I may have to go and buy another backup... grr...

That said, I really, really love the mouse, it feels nice and its got a nice scroll bar feature.

Thanks for all the advice. I think I've narrowed it down to the MX Revolution and the G5. Of course, the G5 is cheaper, but the Revolution is wireless and has more buttons. Do any of you know if the Clique addon can be configured to use all those extra buttons? Becuase that would be really cool.

Clique, and Klik can both be configured to use 5 buttons.
Left
Right
Center (pressing the scroll wheel)
Forward
Back (the ones on the side)

I haven't figured out a way to get it to recognize the "Search" button, but I'm working on it. (that post Gleja sent looks like it may fix it for the search button)

As for the forward/back/center buttons there's a simpler way, actually 2.

1. Don't install the software: This causes all of those buttons to be recognized as "generic" and therefore WoW recognizes them.
2. After installing the software, set the mouse buttons as "generic" instead of "Forward/Back/Center"...

The razor is cool and all... sure if performs great but it's just a freakin mouse! I have one now and it does just fine, performs like my regular ol' dell mouse I got years ago but has some extra buttons that usually annoy me.

strokes, folks, you know how it is. I don't rely too much on the mouse.

I will say though, just say no to wireless mouses. I can't really think of any reason to use them other than weird setups (like using your TV or some shit). If you are there AT your computer it's just a pain in the ass. Batteries die, put your cellphone in a weird place and it messes with the signal, etc.

Back when I was playing DAOC we had a lady in our guild that would randomly lose her mouse, turns out it depended on where she happened to put down her headset, which was wired at the time. No need for it IMO.

I ended up with the Logitech G5, which coincidentally was on sale at Best Buy ($55). While I would have loved a wireless mouse given the tightness of my keyboard setup, I decided not to go that route for now (the MX Revolution was tempting, but I didn't want to drop an extra $45 on what was already a barely necessary purchase). I am generally happy with the G5, although I'm still getting used to it. I am using the third-party steermouse application, which provides application-specific button assignments. I am now trying to get used to using the six extra programmable buttons to cast my most common spells, and once I get the hang of it, it will be great!

Thanks for all the advice I've gotten here.

No cat jokes in the whole thread..

For Frolic:

There was a cat and a mouse who went to heaven, and they were there at the same time.

Well, the mouse approaches God's throne, and God asks him, "So, how do you like it up here?"

The mouse says, "It's nice, but could I get a pair of roller skates?"

God says, "Sure."
So, the mouse gets his roller skates.

Well, the next day, the cat approaches God's throne, and the same question is directed at him.
So, he answers, "It's great! I didn't know you had meals on wheels up here!"
